You probably are aware of this book, but as a companion to Hype! I would strongly suggest "Everyone Loves our Town". I would agree with the folks who recommended The Year Punk Broke - fantastic live footage of Dinosaur, Sonic Youth and of course some funny backstage stuff. Dave Grohl was really into the backstage catering options.
