    I know Florida's a little strange, but given how beloved he is by conservatives there, I didn't realize what a stumbling buffoon he was. He really does not come off as smart, charismatic, politically savvy, or even human. I didn't follow Florida's 2018 gubernatorial election but I assumed he must have been in some way relatable. But he's not. OK, that's true of Trump as well, but you need all sorts of circumstances beyond your control to capture voters. Doesn't look like Ron's going to amass a cult following like that. 

    He's not even smart enough to realize that the best move is to wait until Trump's either dead or out of terms to serve. Trump is the party and this moron had a chance* to be heir apparent rather than pitting himself against the person that most of his voters believe is the greatest person in the history of the country.  

    He seems to think he could just use the word "woke" over and over and dominate. That might work in Florida, but it's not as effective 1) in general nationwide and 2) going for an office that Trump has a shot at.

    *OK, given his persona, maybe he never had a chance. But going up against Trump in 2024 when 2028 is almost certainly going to be wide open was really dumb. And I don't think he can put the toothpaste back in the tube. He'll always be the guy who wanted to dethrone the king.

    I year ago I'd have never said this but Ron Desantis will never be president.

    I overestimated him too. I do think the reason he and a lot of others ran this time instead of waiting is because they think at some point Trump will either be sent to prison or be forced to drop out of the race...thus the reason no one, except a couple, have even bothered criticizing Trump much at all--the risk of alienating his deplorable base is too great for them.

    No doubt in private they want him to either drop out or be sent to jail but in public they will all line up to kiss his hand if he becomes the nominee!

    If I were advising him I would have told him to come out swinging against tRump. He has made some comments but he should be (even starting TODAY) making a case that tRump should be dropping out of the race.
