The secret to keeping a good spot depends…

    “Do not postpone happiness”
    (Jeff Tweedy, Sydney 2007)

“Put yer good money on the sunrise”
    (Tim Rogers)

I'm always amazed at how many people can't make it a show without peeing.
I basically get 1 chance to pee at work every day. Can easily go 4-5 hours.
maybe they're drinking a lot or have small bladders? But yeah i'm with you I can go to a show without peeing.

    It's gotta be the drinking.

But that's also why the opening band exists. Get in early and do that stuff then.
    Reasons I pee during shows:
    • sometimes due to beer (drinking and getting another)
    • sometimes I have anxiety from large crowds and like a small sneak out
    • sometimes ya just have to go when ya have to go
    • sometimes I reach to myself, dear god...

A show where they start with Yellow Ledbetter?

How many minds would blow if Mike opened a show with the opening notes to YLed? One show had RIFTW as an opener. We've had Crazy Mary and Baba O'Riley near the start.

But not just a closer as an opener. Hear me out.

Part of the challenge would definitely be to get the flow right.

    Yellow Ledbetter
    Baba O'Riley
    Alive
    Crown of Thorns
    Faithful
    Jeremy
    Lukin
    Red Mosquito
    Whipping
    Even Flow
    Buckle Up
    Wishlist
    Never Destination
    Porch
    -----
    River Cross
    Betterman on pump organ
Black (ala that version with Boom.)
    Sirens
    Elderly Woman
    Footsteps
    Pendulum
That's what I thought we were getting at Oakland night 1 05.12.22 when the lights were kept up and they opened w RIFTW

One song to the front and the rest to the back?

Eddie: "We'll be right back. We gotta play one for the front!"

    No. Singing the songs backwards

There is a frank zappa song that is recorded backwards. I thought it was another language til I read the liner notes. Monty pythonesque. On 'them or us'.

Obviously Eddie was the drummer in Citizen Dick, Stone and Jeff swap...there's all sorts of swapping in Gigaton...

But didn't Eddie play drums for a real show way back when?

Played in Hoovercraft. Not sure if that counts.
  • Seeing Porch open a show would be pretty great just because you wouldn’t know what the rest of the night holds.

I don't know about "backwards," but I would love to see them mix things up a bit in terms of the most commonly played songs. Play "Alive" early in the set. Play "Even Flow" in the encore. Open with "Porch." That sort of thing. Usually, the first moment when I feel a letdown of excitement is when they kick into "Even Flow" at song 8-10 like clockwork. I feel like I'd enjoy it more at the end because the fact that I don't want the show to end might overcome my lack of desire to ever hear it played live again. And "Alive" in the encore has become very perfunctory. Maybe doing it early would get Ed to put more into it.

I've thought the same about Even Flow for a long while now. Think it would be killer as the last song of the set or last song before Yellow Ledbetter.
