Just my chance to bitch.  I didn't put in for tickets, but since my brother is new, and didn't get in his ticket request, and only did VF, I thought I would make a post.  Having been here  long enough, I know that if I want tickets, I can get tickets.

    One more time...

VF has NOTHING to do with being a long term fan. It's a RANDOM PROCESS driven by an algorithm that actually recognizes some of us who buy or sell alot of tickets as maybe a scalper.

It's verified because you have to have a verified code, not verifying a code for the biggest fans

Ticketmaster's usage of the term 'verified fans" shows that words have no meaning.

You should have just been given tickets like the rest of the long time fans. Total error on the band's part.  Maybe in the seat reassignment reassignment  These posts never get old.

If they truly want Verified Fan to work, they should schedule interviews with everyone who enters. Give you a chance to show off your bona fides - poster collection, ticket stubs, tattoos

I've been a club member for less than a month and got verified for the opportunity to buy $1000 tickets. I stood in line at the music store to buy Vs. and Vitalogy at midnight 30 years ago for this treatment?

yea it's kind of ridiculous to think that paying dues starting in the early to mid 90's without letting it lapse when you were a teenager should entitle you to first dibs at tickets to whatever show you want.  it's nice 10C's had the perk of seniority seating but there is no reason to exclude any member for a chance at tix through the lottery.

You automatically get put in the front of the queue for tickets to every PJ show that you want. Didn't you get the memo?

Did you win tickets in the lottery (sorry if you already said it)?

I wish I never let my 94 membership lapse, or my 06 one, but happy to have renewed for the last 10 years since before the '13 tour announcement.  my seats at MSG in September were not terrible so hoping for better in Austin since it's a less in demand show than NYC

Read it, still think it means what I thought it meant before. It's supposed to verify you're a fan in general, not necessarily a fan of the specific artist. It's supposed to try to weed out the resellers and bots. Now, I have no idea if it's actually any good at doing that, but I doubt it. They most likely just want it to look like they're trying.

Sadly some have thought all along that verified = hard core fan.. they are the ones most upset. But the system sucks big time and we all had better chances with the old first come first served system.

We did, but that was also a different period in time.   It got harder and harder as time went on.   Those first few years of internet sales were glorious.  The masses and do it yourself scalpers hadn't figured out the internet yet.  Those first few years we got amazing tickets to almost everything because most people were still waiting in line or in phone queues.

But it got worse over time.   More people figure it out.  Then do it yourself scalpers figured it out.  You get to the end of the 10's and the website traffic generated by onsales gets crazy.    TM had tried stuff like using captcha, random queues, and now verified fan with random queues to deal with the traffic (and maybe to address the scalpers).

So yah, first come first serve was absolutely better back in the day, but I don't think it would hold up well now.  Too many people and scalpers fighting for too few tickets.
