A lot of it is people who are not paying attention. It's a vicious circle because the fact that they don't pay attention most of the time means that, when they pop their heads up every four years and attempt to pay attention, they struggle to discern truth from fiction because they don't have a baseline of knowledge from which to make sound judgments. One thing I have some empathy for is that it has to be really hard to live your life in ignorance, and it's hard to navigate the world when you don't know how things work. Ignorance is not always bliss.Which IMO is one of the more frustrating things about the 'both sides' argument in the last 10 years.
People who think both sides are equally bad are either being willfully dishonest or just aren't paying attention.I gather speed from you fucking with me.0 -

He was never truly a third party. He was a sore democrat loser. He went third party when he realized he had no chance at the primary. Then switched to supporting trump when he saw it could benefit him.Go Beavers said:
He basically sold out. But it does seem odd based on my memory of third party candidates who claim they’re outside of the establishment and then fully attach themselves to the establishment because their price was met. Not to mention the right would be squealing nonstop about “election interference” if he sided with Harris and was trying to remove, or keep himself on the ballot, as a strategy to help her win.mace1229 said:It's all strategy. He removed his name from the ballot in states where he thought more of his supporters would vote trump. He tried to keep his name on the ballot in states where he thought more of his supporters would vote Kamala.
A little shady, I agree. You should either be on or off the ballot. But in terms of strategy, it doesn't strike me as weird. He wants trump to win. Probably only because they promised him a job first.
Like I said earlier, I don't see him asking people not to vote for him as weird, he dropped out.
What I do find weird is his transition from left, to no party, to right in such a short time frame. When just a year ago he was running for president as a democrat.0 -

Who's got the brain of RFK? What's it mean to us now?Anyone with half a brain knew from the get-go that RFKJr was just trying to help Trump. It sure didn't take a genius to figure it out."You can tell the greatness of a man by what makes him angry." - Lincoln

The fieldRFK is a bit nuts but I consider him the silver lining to Trump's second term.
He's the only big-time player in a long time that's talked about the ridiculous poisoned/ultra-processed diet Americans eat. I think he could do a lot of good as Sec of Health and Human Services. He's a bit anti-vax for my taste but I have some hope for MAHA as much as I hate MAGA. His ability to think critically and grasp the scientific method isn’t there. He’s a grievance peddler who talks smooth.OnWis97 said:RFK is a bit nuts but I consider him the silver lining to Trump's second term.

It stops being weird when you come to the realization that he was never really left to begin with.mace1229 said:Go Beavers said:

Smooth may not be the best description. His choice of words is cleverly done to where he’ll make make an inflammatory statement, but within what he said there’s plausible deniability where he can then backtrack and claim “that’s not what I said/meant”. E.g. he’ll make a blanket anti-vax statement, then later claim he’s for safe vaccines.Spiritual_Chaos said:

The fieldI don't really understand all the science, either but I do know America is outrageously obese and while you can point to personal choices you can also look at all the unhealthy food being pushed on us.
(The irony that the man for whom RFKJ will be working eats the foods exclusively is not lost on me.)1995 Milwaukee 1998 Alpine, Alpine 2003 Albany, Boston, Boston, Boston 2004 Boston, Boston 2006 Hartford, St. Paul (Petty), St. Paul (Petty) 2011 Alpine, Alpine 2013 Wrigley 2014 St. Paul 2016 Fenway, Fenway, Wrigley, Wrigley 2018 Missoula, Wrigley, Wrigley 2021 Asbury Park 2022 St Louis 2023 Austin, Austin 2024 Napa, Wrigley, Wrigley 2025 Nashville (II)0 -
The whole western world needs to eat healthier. And stop killing animals for food like brain dead savages.
At the same time, no country in the world should have RFK running anything."Mostly I think that people react sensitively because they know you’ve got a point"0 -
