So let me get this straight, POOTWH goes to a non-union facility in Michigan to win support from union labor during last night’s debate. In the crowd is a woman holding a union for POOTWH sign but admits she’s not in a union while another guy is holding a sign that says autoworkers for POOTWH but admits he’s not an autoworker. And Brandon is the demented one?

... and also to talk about how EVs are destroying American jobs, and we're going to use big, strong iron and steel and fossil fuels to make big, strong, manly, American cars, and we're going to quit worrying about climate change and we're going to do it all on DAY ONE -- Day One, everyone gets their jobs back, and if you don't vote for him it will be doomsday for the auto industry.

I'm most surprised by the part where there's a non-union shop in Michigan, TBH.

I remember being told, way back in the old days when I was a kid, how conservatives took the "conserve" part of their name seriously and wanted to protect the environment. "Destroying the planet to own the libs" is another move I just don't understand.

She's right.  He's a smart guy but he's being intentionally stupid to appeal to our MAGA friends.  At this point, they will believe literally anything.  They have completely suspended rational thought.

It was tricky dick who signed the clean air act and initiated the EPA with, god FORBID, an executive order. Oh, the horror!

The EPA that the current SCOTUS just might gut with rulings on pending cases. Koch money hard at work.

If only, as David Frum wrote, we knew which Nikki Haley was going to show up on future days. The Haley who shows up at debates isn't bad, by contemporary standards. (Before you get out the pitchforks: I'm not voting for ANY of them, but some would require me coming up with an exfil plan for my kid, and others would just be garden-variety bad. This is a life-or-death situation when it comes to my kid and others' kids. The Haley at the debates is garden-variety modern GOP.)  The Haley who then goes around to the talk shows and yammers about the horrors of having a scary ethnic woman (!?!) as POTUS and who apologizes for the orange menace sucks almost as much as DeSantis does.

Seems he's trying to be the most like Trump. Then if Trump dies or cannot run for some other reason, he could pretty easily get the nomination. If Trump ends up running, the assumption is that he'll win and Vivek can pick right up where Trump left off.

She has some history of saying reasonable things. That said, I think she's showed us who she is plenty. She, like pretty much all of them, will put party/lib-owning first, second, and last.

"Boob bait for rubes." I think he went to Harvard. While there are some surprisingly stupid people who went to Harvard, I'd bet he's more lazy than stupid. He knows his audience is stupid and thus figures a) he's a genius, so he's probably just automatically right about everything (see Elon Musk), and b) the audience will believe whatever he tells them that gets them riled up, anyway, so why bother with the work of learning real facts when fake facts are just as effective?

No, Onwis is right.  Trump has a monopoly on the gullible, stupid voter.  Vivek is hedging here, trying to be their second choice in the event that Trump is forced to drop out.  That's my read.  There's no other excuse for saying the stupid things he says.  Like this one:

When asked about what he would have done if he were Pence.. (from Axios)

"I would have done it very differently," Ramaswamy said during an interview on NBC News' "Meet the Press" Sunday.

    • "I think that there was a historic opportunity that he missed to reunite this country in that window," Ramaswamy said.
    • "What I would have said is, 'This is a moment for a true national consensus,' where there's two elements of what's required for a functioning democracy in America," he said. "One is secure elections, and the second is a peaceful transfer of power."
    • Ramaswamy added that he would have asked for single-day voting, paper ballots and government-issued IDs to verify a voter's identity.

Once those reforms were in place, Ramaswamy said, he would have "certified the election results, served it up to the president" and "declared the reelection campaign pursuant to a free and fair election."

Now of course he doesn't have the power to do any of those, and certainly not on Jan 6th.  And then, without a hint of irony, he also stated that he would:

"He's proposing a constitutional amendment that would require citizens 18 to 24 to pass a civics test in order to vote — the same one immigrants take to become naturalized U.S. citizens. Under his proposal, young Americans could, as an alternative, perform six months of military or first-responder service. But if none of these requirements are met, they would have to wait until they turn 25 before they could vote in their first election.: - NBC News

Now of course the irony is that he wants young people to take a civics test, but if you believe his VP comments, he doesn't know what the fuck the VP even does.

I think the base is too racist to vote for someone with dark skin whose name they can't spell, but I DO think he's positioning himself to be VP and then POTUS-for-life when time eventually vanquishes the orange menace.

ETA: He's doing what DeSantis wanted to do, but he's doing it better, because DeSantis just can't quite convince the base that he's a real human.

yeah Vivek was yammering about burning coal and gasoline engines last night....fucking moron
He's like a weird troll.  He's just trying to lock in the "stupid" crowd by saying outrageous things.
Seems he's trying to be the most like Trump. Then if Trump dies or cannot run for some other reason, he could pretty easily get the nomination. If Trump ends up running, the assumption is that he'll win and Vivek can pick right up where Trump left off.

I think the base is too racist to vote for someone with dark skin whose name they can't spell, but I DO think he's positioning himself to be VP and then POTUS-for-life when time eventually vanquishes the orange menace.

ETA: He's doing what DeSantis wanted to do, but he's doing it better, because DeSantis just can't quite convince the base that he's a real human.
wait until they start using his middle name, like "barack HUSSEIN obama".

he's trying to be the Obama version of Trump.

I know at least one former tRump supporter who is on the Vivek bandwagon now. He's pretty stupid but at least he's beyond tRump....maybe
"As Trump's vice president, I would have very quickly written a bill guaranteeing free and fair elections and signed it into law.  All on Jan 6th".

"Also, young Americans are stupid and should not vote until they prove they are smart, like me".

    Mic drop.

    "I'm just a bill..."

All those who seek to destroy the liberties of a democratic nation ought to know that war is the surest and shortest means to accomplish it.
