Summary of the 2023 Tour Rumor Thread

FaithfulOneFaithfulOne Bend, Oregon Posts: 49
Can someone help  me out and give me an update of the 2023 tour rumors? I have been trying to search through the 82 pages, but it is quite time consuming. I keep seeing "Fall"? Any help would be much appreciated.  The northwest is still waiting for Gigaton songs...

81 pages of wishlists, “please play (insert city),” “(insert city) is long overdue.”

1 page combined of rumored Fall dates.  Mostly, if not all, amphitheaters.  Couple NE shows, couple midwest shows.

Oh, and some dude that really hates NY.

    That about sums it up.

Give up hope for anything before May.

There could be EV solo for Europe in the usual June-August timeframe, but doubtful.

There's rumors for a PJ tour for USA in late summer/early fall. The routing could be something like (but not necessarily including) the northeast down around the Great Lakes up through Chicago and points north and then...who knows after that. No baseball stadiums.

That would be nice but I don't think so as well. Tour dates would then already be known.

Here’s a summary of the worthwhile parts

Late summer/early fall 2023 (late august into September):

    mostly amphitheaters

    Gilford, NH x2
    Bangor, ME
    Mansfield, MA x2
    Hartford, CT
    Noblesville, IN x2 (Sep 9 and 10)
Chicago, IL (Northerly Island? x2?, before Noblesville)
Minnesota (Somerset, WI right on the border?, before Chicago and Noblesville)
    Las Vegas

dates included above are not in order and are just a list of locations that seem to have real traction for a show (less discussion on Gilford, Bangor, and Hartsford).

details included have come from comments/posts in the thread.

Unfortunately doesn’t seem like Northwest is on tap for 2023 unless dates are in place that are just not known in any capacity (totally possible).

I’m going to have to disagree with this assessment. The only cities that have been name checked by anyone claiming to have a legit scoop are Chicago (possibly Northerly Island) and Boston. Las Vegas rumor comes from Tsurt’s deleted dice post. Noblesville seemed more like wishcasting, Gilford, Bangor, and Hartford seem to just be wild speculation.

The New England dates were part of my mythical New England tour dream. Other than Fenway, none have had a credible rumor attached.

    Thanks for clarifying.

Noblesville doesn’t seem like wishcasting. Local person has specific dates on that unless that person says it was speculation, I disagree there.

Minnesota was also mentioned though not sure how legit that is.

    Mansfield, MA x2
    Noblesville, IN x2 (Sep 9 and 10)
Chicago, IL (Northerly Island or United Center? x2?, before Noblesville)
Minnesota (Somerset, WI right on the border?, before Chicago and Noblesville)

i love that you're pegging 2 shows at multiple locations when New York, Toronto, and Philly all got 1 show each on the last tour.

makes perfect sense.  just like everything to do with this band's touring schedule.
Houston, Texas... Believe it or not, there are 7 million people here... must be a couple of fans who'd love to see you play.

I want to believe this but it seems hard to believe they’d play Noblesville 2 nights

They haven't been here in 13 years. The demand is there....they would sell out for sure so why not?

DMB usually does two shows here and Phish did three last year I think

Indy show would likely draw large crowds from Chicago, Detroit, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Columbus, etc.... especially if there are no Michigan or Ohio shows planned.  Two nights would sell just fine if the tour is small.

How many shows they are willing to play and how many of those can be back to backs are more the issue than whether or not they will sell out.

This is more of the point I’m making. Why spend two nights in noblesville when other nearby markets could be more worth their while. That’s all. With that being said , I hope I’m wrong and I hope they spend a weekend in Indiana

Two nights in Houston would sell out regardless of tour size... without having to draw in people from every major surrounding municipality...

but hey, who am I to critique?

Given that we have two airports that are hubs for two of the largest airlines in america (United and southwest), and that we are within 3 hours drive of San Antonio and Austin, and 3-1/2 of Dallas, I'm betting you could do three sell outs no problem.... but hey... let's tour small markets in the midwest instead.

Or just play at the Moody center for 3 straight nights.  Then have everyone from Dallas, Houston, SA drive to them.

I could see them in Chicago but not at Northerly Island.  It is too small.  About 15,000 capacity.  The United Center at around 23,000 would make more sense.

If the tour is small.. maybe it's more like the 2018 tour with a few bigger highlight cities.  Maybe we get some Seattle shows.   If they're dropping a new album in the next year, if they don't play Seattle, I think it would be the first time Seattle misses out on a tour for a new album (ie if a new album comes out before they play Seattle again, then Seattle never got a Gigaton tour show).
