The OFFICIAL "2013 Was Awesome And We Didn't Know How Good We Had It" Thread

Hell yeah!

Wrigley, Worcester 1 and Hartford are three of the most memorable shows I've seen, all for different reasons. (Worcester 2...less so, but still fun.)

The Evening With era was fire.

The double-openers...Release->Long Road blew my mind.

The rain delay at Wrigley and then the late show till 2am.

The last indoor New England shows. We miss you!

That encore in Hartford...HOLY SHIT!

Great times. How could it have been ten years?!?!

Yah, I can't vouch for the East Coast shows but they were on fire in the west.   Vancouver 2013 was one of the best shows I ever saw them do.  Super Binaural heavy, really good setlist, crowd and band were on fire.  Mudhoney opened, so PJ blew past the Vancouver curfew playing until around 12:30am (which must of caused them to get fined).  3.5 hours of epicness.

I feel like every show on that tour was fire.   I really think the 2013 to 2016 era of consistent 3 hour+ barn burners was legendary.

    Agree!

Wrigley, Pittsburgh, Charlottesville, Charlotte, Dallas, OKC.
  • That Wrigley show was amazing!! I managed to do eight shows that year including my birthday show in LA. Awesome year, just awesome.

Great tour. I was lucky enough to do five shows in a row. My only complaint being that Pendulum opened all five. That Hartford show was unbelievable and one of my favorites. I ended up listening to the whole US tour and sounds like those west coast shows were absolute fire.

    Did 4 shows in '13.

    Wrigley, Worcester 2, Brooklyn 2 & Hartford.

Of all the PJ shows I've seen, Hartford '13 was the greatest... 'something' just happened that night between the band and the crowd, it was magic. Brooklyn 2 also lands in the top 5. Wrigley stands out  as well; another epic experience that will never be replicated.

Glad I got in as much as I did that year, we'll never have it that good again.

Also, I feel like we did know how good we had it on that tour.   The shows from '13 to '16 were all pretty amazing and face melting :)    I thoroughly enjoyed everyone of the 3 hour+ barn burner shows I attended.  Vancouver/Seattle '13, Pemberton/Wrigley ''16 and Seattle '18.

The only other band I've seen play 3 hour+ barn burners is Springsteen and the E-street band,

I didn't count pndlm after a few. It was the song after that was the opener. ;)

The 2013 North American shows were amazing.  Me and my friend Sue did thirteen shows(!)  Started with the Brooklyn and Philly shows on the East Coast, then flew back to England for a few weeks.  Returned for the West Coast shows starting in San Diego, doing all of them up to Seattle, including the two in Canada.  The Portland show was my birthday, so it had to be done!

Met a ton of great people, saw a bunch of amazing cities, and some of the best PJ shows of all time. Greatest moment?  Has to be Ed's cover of Mr Plow in Calgary.

2016 was the last "great" year though for the fan interaction.  The band was very in tune w the crowd and did requests.  If you held up a sign w a song you might have got a tag in it.

For 2013 though I did do Wrigley, both Barclays, 2nd Philly and Seattle and I will say that they were all top notch shows.

I feel that might of extended into the short 2018 N.A. tour.  I did request All Those Yesterdays in the forum and it magically got played at Seattle I.    I think the '18 tour was a little mixed though.  The Europe half had some health issues, but the NA side (at least to me with the Seattle shows) felt like an extension of the 2013 era.   Long sets, lots of deep cuts and what not.

Gotta agree w/ Tempo that 2016 feels in hindsight like it was an end to an era.

Glad I crammed in as many shows and traveled as much as I did from 2010 - 2016.

I did a bunch of traveling in 2013, 16 and 18.  16 was my favorite but I was burnt out by show 8.  By then I'd have heard them all pretty much and then along came Boston, 9&10..  That reignited me right up.

Fenway 2 in ‘16 might be the 2nd greatest show I saw them play after Hartford ‘13… I go back & forth between that & Brooklyn 2, ‘13.

Like a lot of you guys, I did a bunch of shows in 2013 - Wrigley, Worcester 1 &2 (who remembers the infamous cropduster?), Hartford, Vancouver, and Seattle.

Haha… I went to Worcester 2 and I definitely remember the infamous crop duster! It was absolutely disgusting, annoying, and terrible, but it’s kind of a funny memory now! 😂

Hartford ‘13 on the other hand was a magical night!  It is by far one of the best shows that I’ve ever been to from any band, and I think it is probably my favorite PJ show of all time. I’ve tried to weigh out a couple, but I think this one takes the cake…

There’s stories to share, but it probably needs a thread of its own (if it doesn’t have one already?). I can’t believe it’s been 10 years since they’ve played Hartford CT?

Yeah, Crop Duster was rough that night. As far as PJ shows go, Worcester 2 was one of my least favorite, but I'll still take it.

Pearl Jam w/ hung over Eddie is still better than no Pearl Jam at all.
