Favorite Albums of 2022

There was a lot of great music released this year. I truly had a tough time narrowing down my list to just 10. The top two haven't changed for me since they were released. They have been my go-to albums all year. I know that I'm probably forgetting a few here & there, but this is my list if I had to pick only 10. And yes, there is a tie for 10th place....because I couldn't leave either one of those albums off. Ha!

1. SHOVELS & ROPE - MANTICORE
2. THE SMILE - A LIGHT FOR ATTRACTING ATTENTION

These 2 have easily been listened to the most for me this year. Just truly amazing albums & they are very different from one another.

3. Spoon - Lucifer On The Sofa
4. Amanda Shires - Take It Like A Man
5. King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard - Omnium Gatherum
6. Kevin Morby - This Is A Photograph
7. Tyler Childers - Can I Take My Hounds To Heaven?
8. My Morning Jacket - Live Vol. 2
9. Drive By Truckers - Welcome To Club XIII

Others:
RHCP - Dream Canteen
Jack White - Fear Of The Dawn
Ben Harper - Bloodline Maintenance
Painted Shield - Painted Shield 2
Caamp - Lavender Days

What are yours?
I LOVE MUSIC.

    Arcade Fire - WE
Gang of Youths - Angel in Realtime
Fred Again... - Actual Life 3
    Arkells - Blink Twice
Turnstile - Glow On (I know it's from 2021, but it got big in 2022 and is when I discovered it)

    Songs:
Nathaniel Raetliff - I'm on your side
    The Killers - Boy
    Fred Again - Danielle
    Metric - All Comes Crashing
    Glorious Sons - Hold Steady
    Arkells - Past Life

    Concerts:
Coachella - 1st time going and the surprise Arcade Fire set, Fred Again and then Turnstile all made it worth the trip
The Killers - so many good songs
Glorious sons - tiny club in London the night before Pearl jam’s two shows. Special to see a band like that with max 100 people

I couldn't come up with a Top 10 this year, I almost had to fill it with Neil Young's bootleg releases.
I somehow haven't heard the new Painted Shield, Ben Harper, Black Keys, Wilco, or Clutch albums yet, and there are a few others on these lists that I should probably check out sometime.

    1. The Afghan Whigs - How Do You Burn?
By far and away my favourite album of the year. It's not even close.

    2. Neil & Crazy Horse - Toast
    3. UNKLE - Rōnin II
    4. RHCP - Unlimited Love
    5. Cat Power - Covers

    6. Neil & Crazy Horse - World Record
    7. Turin Brakes - Wide-Eyed Nowhere
    8. 3rd Secret
    9. Eddie Vedder - Earthling

Earthling would be higher if you got rid of the first minute of Invincible, the hair metal guitar sound on Power of Right and all of P*****e. I was disappointed with Dream Canteen, it's nowehere near as good as UL.

    “Do not postpone happiness”
    (Jeff Tweedy, Sydney 2007)

“Put yer good money on the sunrise”
    (Tim Rogers)
  • Have to check out that Whigs record. They had Christopher Thorn of Blind Melon touring live with them.
