No love for Green Onions by Booker T and the MGs?  How about Rumble by Link Wray,  the conception of metal??

The Stone Gosaard Demos have a special place for me

I listened to the entire Peter Green album tonight and I would list the whole thing as one my favorite instrumental albums, maybe even my top favorite.  It's an album people tend to either love (like I do) or dismiss.  Here's one of my favorite cuts, but I really recommend the whole album:

(sorry, the video cuts in just a hair too soon):

    Sorry... another fav, same album:

“The fear of death follows from the fear of life. A man [or woman] who lives fully is prepared to die at any time.”
Variously credited to Mark Twain or Edward Abbey.

  • Buckethead.  I forgot about that guy.  His stuff is so far out there.  He's too good, lol.  I tried getting into his stuff but just didn't like it.

Yes Stuart and Stanley were jamming on School Days. I love percussionists Neil Peart my favorite but Stuart's style is amazing.  He handles his sticks like a jazz player and he can smack a snare drum with precision POWER. Something Neil would say, play with power on the skins.

Also on BUCKETHEAD not all their music is great but there's some treasures in their releases over the years.

Here's a really cool instrumental!  It's just one song.  Don't wimp out!  Listen to the whole thing!
(And then do yourself and get it on vinyl to get the full impact.  Serious, this is excellent stuff!)

Back in the mid-late 1990s someone lent me a CD of acoustic instrumental songs in that mellow fingerpicking style. I didn't make a copy of it and I am dying to hear it again. I can still see the cover in my head but I can't remember the name of the album for the life of me.

Another one I listened to today.  I'm not a mega Rush fan but the "Trees" followed by the instrumental "La Villa Strangiato" are great!

Yes that Hemispheres album is getting more play from me as I get into more of RUSH'S older catalog. They were a couple posts on the first page on the song YYZ. For some unknown reason I'm not attracted to that song. I'm the biggest fan of RUSH'S music but maybe I'm in a hurry to hear Limelight or my third favorite RUSH THE 📷  👁 CAMERA EYE.

Seeing Zappa live was a revelation.  I always thought of him as a clever guy who make quirky records with hairy men in dresses.  But when I finally got around to seeing The Mothers in the early 70's, Zappa's finesse as a guitarist totally through me for a loop!  His playing was stunning!

I first heard Sheik your Booty and laughed my ass off at the songs.  I started listening to the guitar part and knew that he was really good.  Started to dive into him more and yes, he was absolutely brilliant.

Howard Stern was a huge fan of his.

Brian did you see Mothers w Steve Vai?
  • Oh and thank god someone remembers Cliffs of Dover.

No, actually until I saw your post and looked into it some more, I didn't know Vai had worked with Zappa.  Sounds interesting!

I saw Zappa with The Mothers (after he had dropped the "Of Invention" from the name), the reformed band that included Aynsley DUnbar on drums, and Mark Volman and Howard Kaylan, aka The Phlorescent Leech and Eddie or Flo and Eddie, both founding members of The Turtles.  I'm not exactly sure what year that was, but probably '71.

My brother was really into Zappa and saw him in concert in the 70's.  I never really got into him then at all, but did as time went by. l  wish I saw him.

    I think this is Incredible:
