They need to christen LCA in Detroit, it’s been around too long without the boys playing there.

I'm also going to say as a British Columbian we got Pemberton in 2016, so I feel like it's been 6 years not 9 :)  Sure pemberton is a few hours drive from Vancouver, but it's like a Seattite complaining there's no shows, but a band is playing the Gorge.  There's one in the vicinity, so go :)

Also Pemberton was an amazing show.   Not to many 10c'ers there to speak for it, but it was amazing.   Amazing setlist.  Amazing energy from a crowed that was half older PJ fans and half young kids that had no idea what they were about to witness.  Young fans getting facemelted from how good it was. I look back at the 2013-2016 era of shows, and I seem to play the Pemberton bootleg the most of shows I went too (Vancouver, Seattle, Wrigley 2016, Pemberton).

But yah.. even 6 years is a big stretch for no shows in the Vancouver area.   Might be a record? I don't think Vitalogy or No Code got PJ shows, so there was a big gap between 93 and 98.   2000 had a show (a bar show but it was a show), 2003, 2005, 2009, 2011, 2013, 2016 (Pemberton).   Sometimes Vancouver had more frequent shows than Seattle.

Hopefully we get some shows.   PJ does tour less and less as they get older, which means the odds of playing smaller markets are getting rarer.   Still, they could line up some west coast dates.   Seattle, Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Portland, and maybe a random small market show and make a go of it.

I'm not sure if the smaller cities in the Prairies or Atlantic Canada will get shows again.  I'd love to see one here in Victoria.  They haven't played here since something like 1991 or 1992.

Edit: I also liked the comment about other shows being in driving range, to some of these cities.   Living on Vancouver Island I have to travel to all NHL/NBA Arena sized shows anyways.  So the two closest options are Vancouver and Seattle.

Between the two cities there's always something to see:

    1998 - Vancouver and Seattle
2000 - Vancouver, Seattle (even Portland isn't that far a drive)
    2002 - Seattle
    2003 - Vancouver
    2005 - Gorge and Vancouver
    2006 - Gorge
2009 - Seattle (I missed Vancouver that year)
    2011 - Vancouver
    2013 - Vancouver and Seattle
    2016 - Pemberton
    2018 - Seattle

Living in the PNW isn't that bad.  Between Vancouver, Seattle, Gorge there's been something to see at least every few years.  I guess right now is the longest gap between shows in the region, mostly due to taking the year off, then 2 years of covid.

Hopefully we get a few PNW dates next year.
yeah, I'm not holding out hope for a do over of 2005 or 2011. I'll have to hit up Minneapolis if I want to see them within driving distance.

  • I would really like to be a fly on the wall for the tour prep meetings, just because i'm a nerd for behind the scenes band logistics stuff haha. So for example, why haven't they played in Alaska? One of the most beautiful places on Earth, American city - is it as simple as "we would lose money, not worth it carbon footprint wise" ? Same thing with Australia - why don't they play there more often? Australian PJ fans are some of the best fans around. Again - costs / carbon / time away from family?
