Josh on Guitar

Almost getting emotional just thinking about this and sorry if this has been discussed BUT is there a remote possibility he is learning how to play PJ from the greatest lead guitarist because reasons?

No. They needed an extra hand for additional instrumentation and hes incredibly capable.

Also who exactly CAN play as fast as Mike? Very few people. Not Josh.

I had assumed he was going to learn a 25 song set-list on at least rhythm guitar and bass as their "break glass in case of Covid" emergency band-aid.

He’s said in an interview that he knows a lot of PJs songs because he listened to them a ton when he was younger.
He also got completely shafted by the chili peppers, so I’m stoked he landed an awesome gig with a band that appreciates him. He actually played guitar behind the stage for the chili peppers for years before John left and he took the lead guitar spot. So it’s not unfamiliar territory for him
  • Sounds like there’s no bitterness with the RHCP. Didn’t I see he and John have an album coming out?
  • Nutshell with Cready was awesome btw

Ah. I see that this is a reissue and there is a nonexistent relationship with John. But chad still loves the guy.

  • I think it's just like they had their issues in the 90s and Neil jumped in. Pearl jam is his neil right now. The shit with RHCP happened right before covid, then covid happened.  Seems pretty obvious they are simple neil in this scenario. I thought that was obvious when he released pluralball.

I think they are alluding to rumors of Stone leaving, not feeling well, supposedly quitting, etc., which is not happening! Stone crushed it at BNB! Man was on fire and put on a phenomenal show and rocked it MASK FREE! Josh is a huge addition of added sound and more depth! When they see talent, they grab it. I think it is amazing and added new blood!

How was he shafted by the RHCP? He was a touring guitarist, got promoted when John left. Became the youngest inductee into the hall of fame affer only being a member for like 3 years. Made millions of dollars and 2 albums. Was let go when John wanted back in 10 years later. John is the guitarist everyone knows and thinks of, he was behind all the big albums and hits. I can’t name 1 song off the 2 albums Josh did. Makes total sense they let John back in. I don’t see that as being shafted. He had it great for 10 years and was given a lot of opportunities .Side note- Seems odd he’s even in the hall of fame at all to me.

Josh seems to play all the instruments.  At the Oakland shows when he did drums, I sort of thought maybe the extra set of hands was to try and cover in case of covid.   I suppose too, you bring him in now, and something happens to a member of the band, you've got a person on deck.  Maybe there's not a specific person in mind, but it's something he could do if needed?

he is needed, thats why hes there. hes nonstop at the shows, and he is all over the album which was before covid.  they needed boom too, but no one could understand that either 20 years ago.  now they all  scream his name.
