Hell the Even Bros drunk dancing is on another level tonight.

Still hard to swallow that the show is almost over
135 minutes in QC. There is no short set problem. The ridiculous 35 song sets are over because MC and EV are too old to do that at full quality, and have been for 10 years. The quality has been better after the pandemic. They are more focused.
I don’t know how many times it has to get repeated over and over … nobody is asking for 35 … but all 10 shows I’ve been to since 2010 were 30 or more and we can’t even get 25 this year
Yes, I know that. But it didn't become 23 songs because they are lazy and went to 90 min shows. They made a conscious decision to focus, slow down the tempo, and put on the highest quality show possible. The days of appeasing the setlist box checkers are over, and they never sounded better for it. They literally got their groove back.
But these 22 song sets are not better or more focused the the old 30 song sets. We are losing an average of 7-10 songs and gaining nothing in return. It’s not going to stop me from going to shows but I’m tired of people pretending it’s not a huge change l.

well said mortality. I loved the line "The days of appeasing the setlist box checkers are over". I never understood those types. There are certain songs I love that I have heard before live, and I would rather hear those songs again over a song I have never heard live that I don't like as much.

If they just took some of the jams out of some songs like corduroy, and shortened other jams, they could easily add 2-3 songs in the same total set length.
Of course. And if they took out Evenflow, they could add 2 of your favorite picks. If they want to jam I want them to jam. The corduroy one can go though... because it's not even a jam, it's a pointless extended breakdown.

Not asking for or even expecting 30 … but 25? I don’t think it’s too much to ask for the best live band of the last 30 years
If they just took some of the jams out of some songs like corduroy, and shortened other jams, they could easily add 2-3 songs in the same total set length.
What's the point of that? We want to hear them Jam. I don't want shorter versions just to fit more songs.

They are better. Much better. The 2 shows saw in the last year are better than my 8 previous, and there is no competition until getting back to Philly Spectrum and Bonnaroo1. That's pre 2010. Matt learned how to drum in PJ during the pandemic and they sound like a new fucking band. Better than ever. 135 minutes in QC and it was only 22 songs because of the tempo and focus on quality.
I am OK with the 23 songs. Just please bring back RVM sometimes instead of Porch as a first set closer at every show. Not complaining about it by any means. Just requesting. Would still rather hear them play Porch every show over any other band playing any other song.

Corduroy never had a jam though. So that takes up a short song length. Im not saying either way is better or not better. I also love the jams.
Ok, but when they do play a show thats over 26 songs,
this place is gonna lose its shit.
YES. Exactly. Those special nights will still be there, and they will be considered special again. Instead of the band somehow owing it every single night. How long were the sets in the 90s? Some of the best shows ever were prob less than 25 songs.

My man, you get it. I truly love MC, but he was not great at drumming pre-Binuaral PJ. During the pandemic he clearly learned the older catalogue and fixed all the tempo issues. Shit was a blessing. I was getting tired of watching them rush through 30 songs of fan service. Thought I might be done with shows until this revelation of getting the artistry back.
