I wouldn't say that but, it's the same argument with the reduction of songs in the setlist it's damn near impossible to please anyone. Tonight their playing songs off of Gigaton which, they should! Then you look up and the show is almost over and this is the setlist you wind up with.

they're all pushing 60. I'm not even 50 and couldn't pull off a 2 and a half to 3 hour Pearl Jam set.

Ed’s voice probably hasn’t fullt recovered from Europe and they do not want to cancel more shows. This is the new normal. For now.

Was just thinking this. Absolutely right they should be playing the songs for the album they're touring. Buuuuut was just thinking of the last time they played in Philly - Ten Show. Whole album shows are pretty great when they're basically half the setlist, not 2/3s to 3/4s of the show. Then that's a bummer.

Again, totally get it, willing to give them a mulligan for basically all of 2022. But like going forward this would very much alter my view of them as a live/touring band.

I think we all agree the change was sudden and dramatic, but we've now seen enough Gigaton setlists to know it's clearly their plan to move from 32 songs to 23 or whatever.  If we're expecting more at this point it's our own problem.  I'm still hoping they add a few but I won't believe it until i see it.

Matt went on the record during his recent interview to state he’s played to the point of exhaustion and then looked down at the setlist to see 6 more songs left.

those Red Rocks ‘95 vibes. Always a cool touch.

They got back to back in Ny, and then 3 straight the weekend after. Whatever it takes to get them through and try again in ‘23/‘24…just change it up man. I could never listen to small town, corduroy, and alive again and die happily. Forget Ed’s voice issues from Paris, the man has been screaming for 30+ years, 2.5-3 hours a show, he hasn’t been the same for a while now. I think 2010 was the last time Ed could sing like the 90s. 2013-2016 he had it in spurts (loved the 2016 tour, thought he sounded better than 2013)…but once that issue in Europe happened in 2018, it’s been downhill. Not knocking him, just reality. They can play middle rhythm songs and not strain him out.

I get the shorter sets, it sucks but it’s reality with them getting older.  It’s the sudden lack of variety that I find most confusing.  What happened to RVM?  Why does Porch basically close every main set?  Then the encores become 1-2 songs followed by alive-rocking-YL or something similar.  That’s the more head scratching thing to me.

I honestly wish EV would address it. He KNOWS that is fans have noticed the shorter sets and lack of variety.

I think it's the combination of it all. Not to shit on everything, but that's the thing - it's the lack of length and variety. We're the nerds who feel ecstatic they mixed in Not For You but like the end of shows are all becoming the same. And that also is a bummer.
