Reality Check: The Apollo

I don't have tickets, like many of you. However I do live in NYC, I also have MSG tickets and Camden GA tickets so don't feel too bad for me. I have the 10th off. What is the reality of me just going to the Apollo and standing in some sort of line to get in? Is that even a thing or am I just out of my mind? Maybe I'll go up and grab a poster..

Good idea. You won't be the only one. Seems you have the right attitude. Go have fun and dont get destroyed if you cant get in. Watch out for fake tix outside.

I don’t think anyone knows whether lining up and getting in is theoretically possible (my recollection from the discussions 2+ years ago was that it had worked at certain prior Sirius/Apollo shows for other bands but not at others?). 

The reason you won’t see me lining up there, despite my proximity to the venue, is because I know that I’m just never going to out-lunatic the rest of you lunatics. I imagine myself waking up first thing Saturday morning, taking my coffee to go as my wife laughs at/criticizes me, then showing up on 125 to find like a hundred people already on the sidewalk. 

30 months ago, after weeks of frantic dialing, I had resigned myself to pouring a drink, putting on the good headphones, settling in to listen to this show live on Sirius and getting myself hyped up for MSG. Barring a miracle that’s going to be my plan again.

For SiriusXM Phish show in Philly 2019 they had a fan organized line/list for standby and a bunch got in.

My neighbor was one of he ones who did it.  Got in line around noon.  Got picked from the list right before show time.
I think the Pearl Jam show will be a little more competitive.  With the Phish show it was more of a one off.  With Pearl Jam they’re playing he same city a night later.  Figure there will be bunch of people in town for MSG with nothing better to do than give it a shot and wait in line for Apollo.

I fully expect to be laughed out of my apartment from my wife. Also I'm sure she won't be too keen on me ditching her on one of our very few days off we have together to go stand in a line for hours that I may or most probably will not get into. I would also hope that all the people in town for MSG would have something better to do than wait in line for a show they don't have tickets to, it's NYC! There's plenty to do.

Back in 2006 at the  Astoria  gig i think they had a very small amount on the door. Olden days though
