The New Setlist Have Been Painfully Boring

MUZIKMUZIK Posts: 629
The set list have been so predictable with the same songs almost every night.

No way I would want to travel to hear the same 10 songs or so every show.

Nowadays mathematically that’s almost 50% of the show.

Im okay with not hearing 35 songs a night but Jesus it least mix up your setlist.

Ya out of all these setlist choices the lack of some of the Gigaton songs is pretty puzzling. Never Destination, Who Ever Said, Alright, Retrograde all amazing songs.

It is actually kind of crazy how quickly they ditched most of those songs. Now it's just DOTC, Quick Escape, Super Blood Wolf Moon, and 7 O'Clock each night. Don't get me wrong, those songs all rock but I wish we could hear some of the other new Gigaton songs too.

Shorter for sure. Shockingly so, IMO. But boring? Boring means you've been to too many shows.

    You are probably right.

That’s why if things stay the same one show would be enough.

This is true.  I rarely listen to PJ except for when I am at a show or a new record comes out.

I was thinking of skipping Louisville on my Midwest run because it's a festival set. But it appears we can expect a festival set every night now, regardless of whether it's a fest or not.

A return to normal today is awesome to see, but it doesn't answer what was going on these last few shows.

I don't bitch unless I have good cause. And I definitely give credit where credit is due. Tonight's setlist definitely deserves all the credit it's getting. I'd have been happy to get it.
But one show does not a tour make. And it was still super short, in spite of them mixing things up a bit.

Be happy the band is still alive and still playing together. It could be worse, we could go back to having no live music.

Hopefully those who tie their happiness to hearing rare songs will enjoy a glass of champagne tonight.

My favorite show ever was a greatest hits show.   Why?  Because they killed it.  Every single band member was completely ON and they knew it.
  • ZodZod Posts: 10,517
I only saw the two Oakland shows this year, and the greatest hits one was my favourite.  Unique circumstances as to the why. but it was pretty good.

I agree though.  My tolerance is basically seeing a show or two per tour, then a few years in between those.   Even at that level I have my songs I get a little bored of seeing (Even Flow, DTE).  There's also other songs they play I never get bored of (Elderly Woman...).

To be honest I'm not sure how some people go to so many shows, and not get jaded at the things that are often repeated (DTE, Evenflow, Corduroy, the same songs to close out sets before encores.. etc..).  I feel like I start taking it for granted after a pair of shows every few years.  If I went to more I think I'd grow jaded.  I kind of have my sweet spot, but other people seem to have a higher tolerance than me ;)
