I don’t think people are necessarily pro socialism as they are pro putting limits and constraints on transnational capital and trying to recreate the policies that once allowed for more upward mobility.  But now that those common sense policies have been repealed in the name of short term profit year after year, anyone even mentioning pumping the breaks or reigning things in gets labeled as some kind of socialist.  We wouldn’t even be here if not for western capital sending jobs away, government cutting taxes for the rich, and expecting people to live in austerity in order to build wealth.  The wealthy broke the system and they should have to pay more to fix it.

Without getting too much into details, Mamdani is targeting a select few taxpayers to fund $9 billion in new govt spending, not counting the tripling to the debt load and related service costs he wants to incur. It’s a very easy tax to avoid, which puts the city at risk of default. Although the Rs just passed a terrible tax law benefiting the rich, the USA does have one of the most progressive tax structures in the world. And literally, Mamdani has said he was a socialist and believes seizing the means of production was the end goal of his political ideology.

But you were talking about the popularity of socialism and no one defending capitalism.  If capitalism worked the way it is and has been advertised, no one would be voting for anyone that was calling for the seizing of the means of production.  Unfortunately capitalism has been failing the last several generations and billionaires and business have taken larger and larger control of the government.  Most people have no way to get ahead in a meaningful way as did previous generations. So of course they are looking for different options, because the one that they were sold from birth is failing anyone born after 1980 that doesn’t have any kind of generational wealth to fall back on.

We are on a website where possibly hundreds of users travel the face of the earth, spending tens of thousands, to see a rock band. Year after year. We have a new era of consumer goods that sell sleep aid products start at $3000 plus… wait for it…..a monthly fee of $40. To name just two things that can be viewed as evidence of successful generation and country

I agree we have too many in poverty but let’s not pretend America is not the ultimate land of opportunity. Let’s decide not to judge this country by those who have failed to take advantage of free or low cost education options to get better employment, but instead by those who did and have become successful. But that’s not saying we shouldn’t be trying to help folks left behind. We should.
    damn...you really don't get it

It’s incredible the left gets to make accusations without substance, without facts and without support.

NY absolutely offers free college to those in need. I’d appreciate truth and honesty if anyone chooses to misrepresent facts in response to my comments. Thank you.

Mr/Mrs AI guy/gal complaining about sources of info is rich, particularly as one who doesn’t typically provide links unless pressed, but also claims to be a dem. Sure. Now I’ll wait for the complaining about shadow quotes and personal attacks.

Gotta disappear, I’ve got an Asian tour to scope out.

Pressed, lol. The supervisor told us to chill, pal.

nice reply up there that if the  governments just took the $49T wealth you were complaining about it’d last four years, and  there’d be no more wealth to tax.

Easier to joke and play strawman than understand fiscal policy…for good reason voters don’t trust the left with economics. It’s all jibberish to the left.

And like the rest of your silly arguments you assume the world is a static place, where nothing ever changes, or that straw man arguments of taxing at a rate of 100% exist and that future wealth will never be created.
