This show took place on the night that Prince died and of course the band was devastated by the news. A little Purple Rain teaser opens the 2nd encore. Also, Rise was played for the first and only time (top of my head) at a Pearl Jam show. And Marker In The Sand makes an appearance!
Hi, I host a Pearl Jam Podcast. We go back to some of the classic shows in their history and break down the entire setlist front to back. From historic perspective, to performances, to setlist construction, to fan stories. We do our best to capture the magic that is their live act and help you relive those memories, or if you weren't there, maybe turn you on to a show you've never heard before.

Live On 4 Legs can be found on Apple Podcast, Spotify and any other major podcast platform. But please support our website and check out the episodes archived there. Oh, and the Concertpedia as well (for you Five Horizons and Two Feet Thick fans, we've picked up where they've left off)

That entire 16' tour is fucking fire! I have every show, going to need to listen to them again in order!
I was able to catch the Jax and Tampa shows that year. Ghost in Jax and WMA in Tampa were my takeaways.

almost forgot this today. Can’t say I know too much about this show aside from the Steve Gleason appearance and SOLAT opener. In Hiding and Of The Earth make for a better than normal festival set. Anyone have any actual stories from this?

Really great set to a festival crowd. Crowd wasn't bad, but seemed mildly attentive at times. Long Road mid set was definitely a surprise. Steve either made the setlist, or contributed to it. Eddie came out wearing a loud striped jacket for some reason... Maybe a Mardi Gras nod? He looked like a carny-barker while rocking SOLAT as the opener. Most of the band (maybe all) were wearing Team Gleason shirts.

My favorite moment came during the encore. Skerik and 3 other musicians added horns to a fired up version of The Real Me.

For the RITFW finale, Nathan Followill (KOL) shook a tambourine, Chad & Josh (Chili Peppers & future Earthings) played drums & guitar respectively, while Matt Cameron added a fourth guitar to the mix.

The next day, I remember seeing EV, JA, and MC taking in the Chili Peppers show from side stage. Flea commented on first meeting Jeff, and thinking it was cool and exotic that Jeff was from Montana.

Gleason definitely had some say in this. I remember reading that he made a remark to Mike saying he thought State would be a great opener and that’s the reason why they chose it. Also, Inside Job should be a dead giveaway. Should stack this up with Spokane and Voodoo, it feels like the variety is different enough where he put in requests for songs he left out the previous times

I lot of people I talk to say they love this show. It's another one I haven't really dug into yet. Early set Satan's Bed and an Education is wild.

I may be biased since I was there as well, but it was a great show.  Was my wife's first ever PJ show and she loved it.  Lightning Bolt was a great opener and, if I remember correctly, they started it with the house lights on until the "She comes after thee" line.  Listening to this one today. Really loved hearing Comfortably Numb, Swallowed Whole, and Army Reserve too.

I was at the Columbia show but barely remember it. It was the first night out for my wife and me since our son was born, and we were fucking exhausted/nervous/scared. But it was fun! Columbia 08 was pretty awesome, too.

Went to both nights at Wrigley on impulse, I just had to see them live that year. My husband passed away unexpectedly in Jan 2016 and I had barely left the house til that trip. Flying there myself and meeting new friends as well as seeing people from all over the world that I've met through touring was just what I needed to feel human again. I cried through Release and a couple other songs but mainly was jumping and singing along the whole time. on my flight home I actually felt like I could breathe again and that maybe things were going to be okay.

Most of you have already mentioned these shows, so not a whole lot to add here because it’s kind of obvious

    5/1: MSG

    5/2: MSG
    https://liveon4legs.com/pearl-jam-tour-history/2016/05/02/madison-square-garden-new-york-ny-usa-night-2/

I’ll be honest, I was at both of these shows and it felt like after Philly that NYC would be due for something just as big, but I don’t think it lived up to that bar that was set for it. Night 1 is a good show, but it was the first time that I went to a show and didn’t get any original songs that I hadn’t heard before and that was a bummer. OG intro on Go was a huge highlight though, I just seemed to remember spending a lot of that night being able to predict what happens next and it took me out of it a little.

Night 2 was fine, but it felt like they did a little too much to try and recreate past MSG moments by opening with Corduroy, trying to get the stage to bounce during Evolution and so on. I won’t add Breath into all of that because they played both Singles songs and that’s fairly obscure and different. It was my first man trilogy, so that was neat. But Jeremy two nights in a row was a bit deflating. A lot of songs were played again in the same exact spot which of course doesn’t really happen. Cheap Trick and Sting were cool, but Surrender was channeling that Baba O’Riley early set energy from Milwaukee which was… different.

Hopefully 9/11 will be another historic one, I have no doubt in my mind that it will be. And I will be bringing lots and lots of signs that night if you catch my drift

Agree with your MSG takes. Honestly I totally forgot about Sting. It didn’t have the feel of 2010 for me.
