Toronto Sept 8th Pearl Jam / Elton John

So it turns out that Elton john is also playing Toronto on September 8th at the Rogers Centre just down the road from Pearl Jam's show at Scotiabank Arena.  Which has me thinking that since Eddie and Elton collaborated on 2 songs - 1 on each of their new albums - could this make for a great concert moment?   Would you like to see them do a joint song together or interact via closed circuit on the video boards at each arena?   Would you like to see Pearl Jam cover an Elton John song and if so which one?   My vote on the cover would be to see the boys cover Tiny Dancer with the whole crowd singing along as loud as possible to send a big Hello Elton's way similar to what they did for Tom Petty on the Live at the Gorge concert album with I Won't Back Down .  I just find this interesting to think about.  Let me know what you all think.

Curious how well you can hear outside Rogers Centre during a concert.

In my experience, you can barely here inside Rogers Centre during a concert. This was with the dome closed.

We were in Toronto to see The National in 2019 and stayed at the Marriott attached to the rogers center. When checking in, the desk clerk asked if we were baseball fans. We said yes, we were prob gonna go buy tix to the Jays game that night. She gave us a free upgrade to a stadium view room. Rather than buy tix to the game, we went to the beer store and sat in our room to watch the game. The window opened so we could hear the crack of the bat. I wonder if they sell those rooms on concert nights.

They put up curtains for concerts, but you could definitely hear the concert well if you had a stadium-view room

If they were to cover an Elton John song which one do you think would lend itself well to Eddies voice?  I still think he and the band  could do a good cover of Tiny Dancer.  Or do you shudder at the thought of the band covering an Elton John song?

I'll go with Madman Across The Water. Or Levon.

He's playing Syracuse on September 10 and his next show is on the 13th. I could see him stopping by MSG on the 11th

Elton should pre-record something Eddie and the boys can play along with. My vote is "Picture", but I root for chaos.

    Chaos indeed.
  • My fave is Funeral For a Friend / Love Lies Bleeding, but I suppose that would go on a bit too long.

    Island Girl would be fantastic!

    Your Song
  • Elton could be in California and Ed in Toronto and they could do the live feed into the show if they wanted.  Doesn't have to be that they are in the same city.

The best part is that we had to sign a waiver promising not to dangle anything out the window and no nudity / lewd acts since we would be visible to those in the park and the tv cameras! Did see a grand slam that night that ended up going just a little right of our room (but much lower)
