Earthling Tour/Setlist/Rehearsal

How much do you think Eddie and the E's have prepped for this quick jaunt? What do you guys think we can expect besides the album? Just Eddie to start, then Earthlings or Earthlings whole show? Same type of PJ material Ed has already done solo (mostly songs he is credited for words/music- porch, betterman etc). I plucked tix off stub hub for a decent deal after losing out in lottery. If im a sucker, well whatever I'll be in the room. 12 days from NYC night 1.... Got to think Ed's getting saddled about, real curious what you guys think set will be like.

I dunno, I think he'll do at least ONE every 2-nighter, but it'll most likely be Porch without an extended solo from Mike. The Ohana set list is a good indicator.

I think it will be a lot like Ohana night 2. Ed solo for a few covers and Into The Wild songs, then full band. A mix of Earthling, Flag Day, and covers. Maybe a PJ song or two, like the reworked Corduroy they did.

some cuts off Earthling, some Into The Wild, some Flag Day with Glenn, some Bruce, some Petty, some Who, and I wouldn't be surprised if some obscure covers of bands he loved growing up that wouldn't fit into a PJ show but couldn't pull off solo.

The reworked Corduroy isn't that great, IMO.

I thought the best songs that night were I'm One and Give Blood.  No surprise the Who/Pete songs came off best considering Pino was playing and of course Ed covers them well.

you guys sure Glen is opening, bc he is booked for Beacon later in February on his own? Is he an official Earthling? Is Watt? What is the consensus on start time and total Earthling play time? Totally out of our element with this! Not an Ed show, not a Pj show. The Earthlings!

In the tour announcement, it says Glen will open all the shows and lists the Earthlings band lineup (EV, Chad Smith, Josh Klinghoffer, Chris Chaney, Glen Hansard, and Andrew Watt).

No Pino Palladino sucks.  He stands like a board but he plays a fat bass.

I see, it was a poorly constructed sentence.

It's too bad Pino isn't there.  While he is pretty upright and stationary during a show, the dude is an amazing bass player, literally one of the all time greats.

I meant 'fat bass' as in thick, heavy.  It really stands out during a show.  He was the replacement for John Entwistle after he died.  I just got the notice that the Who is headlining Jazz Fest, so my guess is he will be with them this spring, so it makes sense now.

I would like to see him do some full-band songs from the Ukulele album and Into the Wild. Setting Forth and Sleeping By Myself have both got the full band live performance, why not full band Far Behind or No Ceiling from ITW or Longing to Belong or You're True from Uke. The full band Hard Sun with no backing track at Ohana may have been the highlight of that night for me, so I would like more of that. I do also hope he starts with a few by himself like at Ohana.
words seem so out of place.

Pino stopped playing with The Who in 2016, and said in an interview a year or so ago that he just wasn't into touring anymore generally, so I'd have been very surprised if he popped up on this EV tour. It's a shame, because he plays rings around his replacement in The Who (Jon Button), but if he was just ready to get off the road after a life on it, it's hard to blame him.

Drive is a really really cool song. As I grow older I am starting to understand the Michael Stipe love. Although back in the day I freakin rocked What's the Frequency Kenneth and Bang and Blame lol. Back to The Earthlings... Start time 8:30 or 9? End time 11?

I’d love to see them do something off of ‘Bat out of Hell’ as a tribute to Meatloaf, with Josh on backup vocals they could nail it.
