POLL - The WEAKEST LINK of FEMALE FRONTED BANDS - ROUND 2

Hope everyone is having fun with these WEAKEST LINK polls. With the new poll we will decide the best "Female Fronted Band". Now I decided to not include all girl bands like The Bangles or Go Go's, and wanted to stay away from bands with the singer's name in the band name like Blondie or Joan Jett and the Blackhearts.

So with this one I came up with 10 for us to debate about and choose from.

Disclaimer: I know there are thousands of great bands with female leads, I could not include them all and I want to be the first to say I am sorry for not including your favorite. These are just the ones that came to my mind.

Remember you are going to pick the band that you think is the "Weakest Link" after 2 days I remove the two (2) bands with the most votes. We will then move on to Round 3.

Thanks again for playing, and Happy Holidays!

It’s beyond fucked that Hole was eliminated in the first round.

Do you people still think that Courtney Love killed her narcissistic, less talented husband or something?

Because you cannot be voting with your ears! Unless they’re broken!

Courtney isn't for everyone. She's not sugar,  spice, and everything nice. People have a hard time with that shit, for some reason.

I recently read John Peel's autobiography and in it he tells the story about having the opportunity at a music festival to have one of his daughters meet Courtney.  He said she was very sweet to the kid and signed something for here.  The daughter told Courtney she was excited about getting to see Hole play later that day and Courtney said something like, "That's so sweet honey but really, The Fall are playing at the same time and you should go see them, they are much better than our band,"  Peel was touched by Courtney's kindness.

Haha. I enjoy the discussions about music history, even defence of an artist and why they should be held in higher regard… the intelligent approach to defining greatness.
The emotional responses of some folks (name calling, bewilderment, other outlandish reactions) is somewhat baffling to me. I mean, there is no trophy or HOF nomination at the end of this. 🤷‍♂️

It reminds me a little of beer league hockey that I play. Bunch of old hockey players out for some fun and exercise and every once in a while there is some guy who seems to have something to prove. Takes things just a little to seriously. If they start to get chippy with me, I’ll just stop and look at the guy.  He will probably think I “want to go” (fight).  At this point I smile and point to the empty stands to remind them there are no scouts at the game, “probably aren’t making the big leagues big fella!”.  Then just skate away laughing.

I just don’t think they are very good, not compared to these others.

Except Evan… I think Hole is better than them but that’s not saying much.

OMG, yes!  How could I forget?
Every now an then, a Natalie Merchant or 10,000 Maniacs song will get played in the supermarket I go to and when I hear that magical voice and when no one is looking I call out, "NATALIE!" like the guy in the audience on the live album.
When I first learned about them and heard that they were from Chautauqua, NY, where I lived for a few years in the 70's (before they formed), I quickly became a fan.
    Good call, M!

Magical is the right word for her voice.

And yeah the Unplugged cd is so good.  I really wish that would be released on vinyl.

At some point, I will likely have to vote for Eurythmics which is too bad because even though I'm not a big fan, I really like Annie and Dave's earlier band The Tourists.  Luminous Basement is an excellent album!

Saw them on late night show. Bad timing? An off day? Wasn't impressed.

Hard call.  David Roback was as much a leader as Hope Sandoval.  Kind of the same situation as with Opal's Roback/ Kendra Smith.

To me it’s a side project/ supergroup type of thing.

if she isn’t on the list as part of her main band then she shouldn’t be as a member of a side project

I wouldn’t vote for audioslave in a similar poll for the same reason as soundgarden should be the basis for comparison  for Chris Cornell
