Merry Christmas (I still say it)

Some of my friends think it's not Kosher to say "Merry Christmas" (well, they are right, my good and wonderful Jewish friends).  Some think it is politically incorrect but I don't care because even though I wrote to Santa Claus I never voted for him NOR Mrs. Claus.  Some of my family and friends prefer "Happy Christmas" which I think is a bit like saying "Best hopefulness" at the end of a letter, but I'm always up for happy, so that's cool.

But I still say Merry Christmas.  It's not about the commercialism.  It's not about Jesus (who has his fine points but besides, was he really a Capricorn anyway?)  For me it's about the beauty of winter, the season, the recent solstice, the cheerful lights, but most of all, it's about being thankful for my family and friends whom I love.

So friends, Merry Christmas, peace and love to you all, and keep dancing to the music.
Cheers!
Brian

    MERRY CHRISTMAS!

If someone is offended by others spreading joy to you and wishing you happiness, it is unfortunate,  but I will not allow them to squash my joy and love.

FYI Jewish people are not offended, they welcome every religion. It is a great thing to them, that you find/found God no matter what religion it is.

People are trying to politicize it, here, just like they do everything else at this point.  Not what Brian is trying to do, or doing, of course.  I saw three different LinkedIn messages where they made it obvious.  I disconnected with all three people.

    Merry Christmas, all!

  • Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays means the same thing to me. I work with many people from many faiths. Around the workplace (emails, meetings, general conversations) I say happy holidays almost exclusively. I find this is the simplest way to ensure everyone feels included.

To family and friends in my personal life who I know are either Christians or secular I generally say Merry Christmas.  Here on the forum I say Merry Christmas… I guess the general anonymity plays a part in that.

Friends or acquaintances I have that I know who are not Christian or secular, I wish them happy holidays.

My home made blueberry muffins are in the oven, sweetheart making the scramble, coffee in the mug.  Lookin' like a good start here.
I hope you all are having a good Christmas too!

Once whilst working at a University, I was told to remove Merry Christmas from my out of office as not everyone celebrates it. I work somewhere else now and this year I thought better of it, only to find some of my colleagues have done this exact thing. Needless to say, the whole thing confuses the heck out of me!

    Happy holidays.

    Yes is, she is indeed!
I hope your Christmas was all you'd hoped it to be, Dreamgirl.

This day after Christmas here is likely to bring us unusual amounts of snow meaning possible getting snowed in for a few days.  I'm hoping not to get too much "cabin fever"!

I got some Art from my neighbour artist friend who I've known for many decades, it was a really pleasant surprise. It's called spring blossom to inspire hope and optimism.

Snow - lucky you! Walks in the snow (with the pooch) are the ultimate, it makes it lighter out too! Right now England is rainy, cold and dark.  At 5pm it feels like midnight. Even the dog's confused!

How nice that you  received some art work.  A wonderful gift!
I do like a little snow as well.  It's coming down lightly now but not sticking.  Perhaps over night!
I wish I could travel.  Seeing parts of Great Britain would be my first choice of destinations!

I think that's one of the things I miss the most - travelling, holidays, mini breaks and discovering somewhere new, although it also means I can get the house fixed!  America will always remain on the top of my list.

Of course they are not offended....but if they wished you Happy Hannukkah! wouldn't you feel a bit foolish?

Nobody gives two shits about saying Merry Christmas...it is just a factor of how ignorant you want to appear by wishing it on the wrong people.
