To the Band: a 2nd Leg Tour & Voter Drive Initiative for Fall 2022, West to South

Reminiscent of the 2004 Vote For Change tour, I think 2022 will be an opportune time for the band to help elect politicians who support their causes & interests.
"For this is no time for depression, or self-indulgent hesitance
This fucked-up situation calls for all hands, hands on deck"

1. Reno (optional, for old times sake)
2. Las Vegas
  • to help hold the House seats for Susie Lee & Steven Horsford
  • to help Senator Catherine Masto (or the Democratic/Independent primary winner) hold their Senate seat
  • to help Governor Stephen Sisolak (or the Democratic/Independent primary winner) hold the Governor's chair
  • a long-awaited return to the home of the band's 10th anniversary: Vegas!
3. Salt Lake City
  • to help defeat Ted Cruz's BFF, Senator Mike Lee
  • to help hold the House & pick-up some seats for Democrats, or Independents
4. Grand Junction, or Pueblo, Colorado
  • to help hold the House, defeat that January 6th participant Lauren Boebert & pick-up some seats for Democrats, or Independents
  • to help Senator Michael Bennet (or the Democratic/Independent primary winner) hold their Senate seat
  • to help Governor Jared Polis (or the Democratic/Independent primary winner) hold the Governor's chair
  • while they will hit Denver in the Spring, we are a nation with short memories. Might be best to hit up CO in the fall & keep people motivated.
5. Las Cruces, or Roswell, NM
  • to help hold the House, and defeat Yvette Herrell
  • to help Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham (or the Democratic/Independent primary winner) hold the Governor's chair
  • I just want a bitchin' alien PJ poster ;-)
6. San Antonio
7. Austin
8. Houston
  • to help hold the House, and pick up as many seats for Democrats & Independents as possible
  • send a message to Ted Cruz that 2024 isn't that far off...
  • to help elect Beto O'Rourke (or Matthew David McConaughey) to Governor, and send Greg Abbott packing
  • it's time to return to Texas. There are good people there, willing to fight for what's right.
9. Baton Rouge, or New Orleans
  • to help hold the House, and pick-up some seats for Democrats, or Independents
  • to help defeat the OTHER, ineffectual John Kennedy (R), and help the Democratic/Independent primary winner win the Senate seat
  • Louisiana continues to be the most diverse voice in the South, and no one state is more effected by climate change than LA due to being below sea-level.
10. Pensacola, and/or Jacksonville
11. Orlando
12. West Palm Beach
13. Miami
  • to help hold the House, and pick up seats since Charlie Crist is running for Governor again
  • to help defeat Trump Footstool Senator Marco Rubio, and pick up a Senate seat for the Democratic/Independent primary winner
  • to help defeat ineffectual Governor Ron DeSantis (60,000 Floridians dead from Covid-19) and elect Nikki Fried or Charlie Crist to the Governor's chair
  • a long-awaited return to Orlando & West Palm Beach. Theoretically, they could wrap up there, but Miami will be the first city partially under water (in our lifetime) in Florida if we don't act.
Any thoughts on outdoor venues welcome! (Indoor venues will be a fall back). Regardless...

    I want to focus on the tour, cities to hit up, potential venues, and past memories of places they haven't played in a long time. That's all :)

    Nope. Apparently they haven't had enough of Trump, or fell asleep at the wheel. McAuliffe wasn't a great candidate, but anyone who accepts an endorsement from Donald Trump has no business being in office, either. No further comment.

    If I had to drop any one city from this itinerary, sadly it would be Salt Lake City.
    It's been a pretty red state for awhile, and unless some celebrity or rock star politician emerges, Mitt Romney is as good of an ally as we're going to get.
    But you never know, maybe there's some people that went to that '95 show w/the Fastbacks and they're willing to make a change...

    Add Arizona:   Flagstaff and/or Phoenix......Senator Sinema (pull your head out of your ***).  Arizona is a purplish state and can easily be red next year.

    Not to be devil's advocate here but the idea about Pearl Jam playing swing states or certain locations in an effort to address targeted issues has always seemed a little odd to me. I'm not saying they don't do it but playing an arena show for 15,000 people, many of whom already have have dug themselves in on one side of the political aisle doesn't accomplish much in my opinion. Said differently, how many opinions can they really change by taking that approach? I know that social activism is one of the band's foundational pillars, however, I think the business side of playing sold out shows in larger cities weighs more heavily in the band's decision-making process than opting for localities where political statements can be made. I think the latter is often addressed in the monthly newsletter, on their social media platforms, through money raised by the Vitalogy foundation, etc... With all that said, I'll take shows in any North American location at this point...I want the fellas to get back out on the road!

    You make some valid points, but I think the band is at a point where they can afford to choose their venues (and battles). Case in point, SHN & Ohana. On the beach, not at all easy for all parties involved (unless you live in Dana Point, or Asbury Park lol)... but they had the peace of mind of being outdoors (and near beaches).
    Factoring in the current cost of tickets, the royalties from merch, and the fact they're pulling in more for the music they write (percentage wise), and seeing as we don't really see any of the guys driving Maserati's around, they've handled their money well.
    Anything they do going forward from, say 2016 or 2018, is for the love of playing music (and keeping the machine going for the LLC in a sensible manner, other than how the Dead used to grind themselves into the ground).
    One thing we definitely agree on: more US shows is a bonus for all of us :)

    *IF* PJ wants to come to FL in the next year or so, and they want to have safety requirements in place, they can't be sued, or fined by the Governor's office. No matter what bluster would come forth.
    While they've since lifted the requirement (voluntarily), WWE as recently as of June this year was requiring masks & testing at their NXT shows (which I used to frequent). Here's a transcript:

    AND...it would be highly lucrative for the band.  They could sell out multiple 20k arenas in Dallas, Houston, Austin/San Antonio and play to more fans than almost any other state.  But do they have the balls to actually play the Lone Star state outside of ACL Fest?
