Chad Smith Indicates More EV and the Earthlings Shows

Taken from a recent Rolling Stone interview.

How did you end up playing with Eddie Vedder on his new solo album and live at the Ohana Fest?
I work a lot with the producer/musician Andrew Watt. He’s amazing. We did a couple of songs for Ed, and then it turned out great and we just ended up doing a whole record, which is excellent. I’ve known him forever. We took Pearl Jam on that first tour in 1991 way back when, and you know, obviously he’s an amazing musician and so fun to connect with on a musical level. We’ve played together but we’ve never recorded or done any shows. It was really fun. Easy, fast. You didn’t hear it from me, but Ed’s talking about doing [more solo tour] dates.

Wonder when these shows will happen since Chad has the Chili Peppers world tour coming next year.

I don’t want to look.  We’d really like to take our daughter but I heard it’s “3 day festival” like prices.

My only time seeing them was for free in a tiny club.  I can’t top that memory.

I think that if PJs don't reschedule their 2020 US concerts for the spring of 2022, I believe there is a very good chance for an 2022 US Spring tour of Eddie Vedder & The Earthlings. Just my 2 cents.

This would be a slap in the face to everyone holding PJ tickets for 2+ years.  If EV can play indoor shows, why not PJ?  I don't see this happening.

I think the EV shows happen after PJ.

That being said, The Earthlings sounded great that weekend and it would be a blast to hear them play live again.
    I LOVE MUSIC.

How about EV shows in Jan/Feb followed by the rescheduled PJ shows in March/April?

Great news! Thanks for sharing, OP. The collective energy of Eddie and The Earthlings at Ohana was fantastic, and I'd be stoked to see them play those songs - along w/ the rest of the album - again live :plus_one:

Highlight of the weekend for me, mini supergroup that just ROCKED.  What a great surprise.

  • I enjoyed Ed's sets at Ohana, but if we get Earthlings show dates before Pearl Jam rescheduled dates I am going to be pretty frustrated.

Kick that Watt dude out of the Earthlings and I am in.  Chad was a lot of fun to watch at Ohana.

Because EV is one member maybe someone else in PJ doesn't want to play indoors yet.....
