I’m always afraid someone will swipe my tube at the show. It’s rough out there.
Others have lost posters at the airport so I can see where shipping it seemed like the safer option.
The collapsible/telescoping poster tube I took with me fit inside my carry on luggage suitcase for the trip home. It also fit in the locker I rented at the festival. It had a carrying strap, but it was nice being able to put it in the locker and not have to worry about it.
Not blaming, but instead relaying how I try to take care of my own stuff. I’ve had the Usps and ups turn 3 day shipping into 3 week shipping for rare PJ stuff.
I know people with incredible collections who only ship posters in legit pipes. Doesn’t stop theft but should stop the damage from these people launching it around and crushing tubes. Insurance is a must tho, especially on a $1,000 signed EV poster.
Really the only way to limit theft as much as you can is to carry it with you. There’s always going to be scumbags out there. More and more of the public are aware of what’s a collectible these days. We see it at every merch line with folks who couldn’t name a single Pearl Jam song. It sucks but you can’t trust the hotel employee that knows PJ is in town or the curious person at FedEx looking for opportunities. Insure that stuff.
Admittedly, the OP has stated that they have had a number of previous incidents. If one keeps getting things stolen from them, sometimes they need to consider why it continues to happen to them.

ah, the old "stop wearing a short skirt and you'll be fine" approach.

“Like I said the merchandise lady threw me off when she said "everyone is shipping them home in these."”
And the Scooby Doo style reveal finds…it was the Fed Ex employee under the merch lady mask all along!
They would’ve gotten away with it too, if it wasn’t for those pesky 10Clubbers 😉

kind of odd they didn't steal them both. Sorry if you genuinely got robbed op. Just odd anyway. I had someone empty over 300 cash from my wallet once and left me 5 bucks so who knows.

Not at all, we're talking about theft not assault.
OP followed up saying their prior experiences have been inside jobs or someone they knew. This seems like it would fit that bill. My guess is someone at hotel overheard something to know this was a valuable package. Doubtful most people would consider concert posters worth much.
Yes, the hotel definitely had knowledge of the posters. Here is an update, I have been in contact with the Ten Club and they are replacing the missing poster and my other damaged one. Thank you so much Ten Club.
Many lessons learned here. Hand carry next time. Also, the collapsable poster tube sounds like a very good idea or PVC pipe. Clearly in my case the cardboard tube was jammed in some kind of machinery or vehicle and was crushed. How that is related to the loss of the poster is a mystery.
Ohanafest rocked! It is very well organized event and Dana Point is beautiful. If the event happens next year try to get there!
Stay positive and hang in there, good times ahead.

I bought the collapsible tube on Amazon for less than $20. You should check it out, it worked really well.

No you are not being cat fished. I would gladly pay the money offered to see this person put in jail for a period of time and a conviction on their record. They would not be able to go skiing in Canada. And yes Loujoe I can only hope this person has bad karma coming. Anyway, not trying to be a downer here. Do not ship posters folks! Lesson learned.
Put in jail for a poster? That's not going to happen.
