POLL- THE WEAKEST LINK: STEPHEN KING MOVIES - ROUND 1

With this 'WEAKEST LINK' I decided to go with the spirit of "Halloween" and decide on the BEST STEPHEN KING MOVIE. I understand that many great films have been adapted from King's works. I purposely left off three of my favorite King adaptions, Stand by Me (1986), The Shawshank Redemption (1994), and The Green Mile (1999). I just didn't feel that these fell into the theme I was looking for. So, pick the film that you think is the WEAKEST LINK from the ones provided.   Again, thanks to everyone who plays.

Now to the 1st Round to determine the BEST of these Stephen King films.

You are going to pick the film that you think is the "Weakest Link" after 2 days I remove the two (2) movie with the most votes. We will then move on to ROUND 2.

Carrie (1976)
The Shining (1980)
Creepshow (1982)
Cujo (1983)
The Dead Zone (1983)
Christine (1983)
Children of the Corn (1984)
Maximum Overdrive (1986)
Pet Sematary (1989)
Misery (1990)

No IT?  Granted some people consider it a mini series instead of a movie.  Tim Curry was awesome!

    Easy one.
  • Pet Sematary (1989)
    Pet Sematary sucks.

    BUT

Pet Sematary II does not suck.

    Creepshow was great.

It should come down to Carrie and Shining.

I haven't seen them all so I  will have to wait until later rounds to vote.  When they get narrowed down, I'll have to check out any in the top four or six or so that I haven't seen.  That said, it's hard for me to imagine any of these beating "The Shining".

I’ve never even heard of Maximum Overdrive

Very few of these films do justice to the books. To me, anyway.

There were the newer theatrical releases of It and It Chapter 2 just recently that could have qualified.

    Great category.

I don't know if I can vote out Maximum Overdrive, although it is probably the worst movie on the list, because of the soundtrack.  Love it.
Anything that brings Ride On (ACDC's greatest song, from a criminally underrated album) to the masses, again, is a great thing.

    Children of the Corn (1984)
The best one I have seen, with bonus points in sticking to the source material: The Mist

Stephen King adaptations are a sour point with me.  I believe he realizes it now, but it is clear he just rubber stamped approval and accepted a check for anyone and their brother who wanted to use his material/name.  So many great works ruined.  Those terrible movies and series out there are a huge smudge on his legacy.

Most of these things are just plain terrible at best, embarrassing at worst. *looks in the direction of the Under the Dome series

That is your vote for "ACDC's greatest song?"
I do like it, lots, and it was the only original song (only original w/lyrics) from the Who Made Who / Maximum Overdrive album.
Will have to listen to WmW today.  I think the cheeseball video was fantastic.

I really, really like that song, lol.  The way the guitar is structured in it is fantastic to me.  It works.

That's cool.  It is a very ACDC song....which is to say, I dig it.

I remember reading Needful Things and like a day or two after I finished reading it the movie came on tv (like TBS or TNT) and oh boy was that a disappointing movie. Book was soooo much better, the movie was horrible.

No love for Firestarter? That was pretty good. I also agree that IT should be in here (either the 90's mini series or the films from a few years ago)
