Right now my favorites are The Dark, Fallout today and Mrs Mills. (I’m not really sure about what the song Mrs Mills is about though, is she like an escort?)
    😂

Mrs Mills is one of the pianos at Abbey Road but I love the idea of Eddie singing a beautifully ornate, Beatles tinged number about a sex worker.
😊 haha thanks I would never had guessed that it was about a piano 😄
It's been talked about in many interviews he's done

  • Anyone else order the Fresh Edition of Earthling and still waiting?  I had an email telling me a "label was printed" the week of the 11th, and still no update on UPS site as of today.

Side note:  Got my "label printed" for my Vault 1 last week, and its status says it will be delivered Wednesday!

I've not listened to ANY of Earthling, waiting to listen to it on vinyl first, and I'm getting impatient!

    Thanks!

I read on the PJ web site that the vinyl, deluxe CD, and cassette versions won't be shipped until late July 2022 due to supply-chain issues. I ordered two cassettes through the Ten Club, as well as a vinyl copy through Amazon, and Ten Club printed the shipping labels right away. Nonetheless, I don't expect them to be shipped until about five months from now. I was, however, able to buy a copy on CD at Barnes and Noble last week. I'll have to listen to that in the meantime.

Fresh press arrived. Listening to it right now with headphones. This is my first close listen. Also saw both Chicago shows having only heard the first three singles. Here’s my brief thoughts so far…

INVINCIBLE - This was a beast live and stood out as such both nights in Chicago. I really like it as the opener of the album. The intro borders on cheesy but ends up reeling me in.  It’s cool.
POWER OF RIGHT - This song kicks ass. Cool riff. Great feel. I could do without the “claps” but it doesn’t bother me either.
LONG WAY - As it has been stated many times this is so Tom petty. But great Tom Petty!  Really enjoy it.
BROTHER THE CLOUD - I lost my brother a couple of years ago. This one hits home. I love the Talking Heads feel of it. Love the ending too.
FALLOUT TODAY - Cool song. Good groove.
THE DARK - Kind of feels like a middle of the road PJ song (which is a compliment as middle PJ is better than most to me). I dig it.

I really enjoyed side A!  Solid record so far. Keep in mind I’m on my fourth bourbon. Onto side B…

THE HAVES - This one just doesn’t do anything for me. In fact I just don’t like it. Falls in the extremely cheesy category. EV has pulled off some amazing songs like this before but it falls way short here. Reminds me of how I felt about Sirens. Also, this was a beer run for me night 1 Chicago. Killed the energy of the show. (Btw, night two was 100x better!)
GOOD AND EVIL - Fucking love it!!!  Why have the Earthlings not played this live yet?!?  Wow this song is Awesome.
ROSE OF JERICHO - Has the potential to really grow on me. I felt the same way live. It was cool but one of those songs I think a year down the road might blow me away live.
TRY - Another one I’m going to have to digest. More listens are needed. “Fun song” would be my reaction tonight.
PICTURE - Ugh. Just bad. Sorry, I’m sure some love this. This might be the worst song EV has been a part of IMO. (Although I barely got through one play of the song he did on EJs album). Next.
MRS MILLS - Not sure what to think of this one so far. Very Beatles sounding. I think I like it??  It was a bit boring live but again could be different next time after several listens. Actually, I’m digging it more already. I like it.
ON MY WAY - Man this is cool!  Great closer!  So cool Ed was able to put him and his dad on a record together. Perfect ending to an overall solid record!

Overall I enjoyed this album.  Just one old school PJ/EV fans opinion. Peace ✌🏻

    Sweet!
  • Is it possible the week of July 29th that the album goes number 1 again in album sales. When the album and deluxe cd’s count? It sounds like those sales aren’t about of the February total.

Possible. Yes, those are not counted because they haven't shipped. If not #1 on the Top Albums Sales. It could be #1 on the Vinyl chart

i wrote a pretty scathing review on facebook about gigaton after my first listen. now it's one of my top albums.

I also was perplexed by this album at first. Then it grew on me. Especially after seeing some live footage, and gaining perspective behind some of the tunes, it made a difference.

I also really didn't like No code when it came out. I was a Ten purist. Now I love it.
