I traded my Vault 10 not long ago.  I resealed it in the heavy duty mailer it arrived in and then placed it in another box just to be sure.  Since I was sending it media mail the additional weight didn’t affect the shipping price.  I also added insurance just in case it got lost or run over.

I used a box set record mailer and bubble wrapped it and then placed in a box of biodegradable peanuts.  This was for a benny though.

thanks guys, but I'm looking for information on if we should use insurance when shipping. I don't want import fees, so I asked him to declare it as a used record (true). but if it gets lost/damaged, how does this work?

Can't hurt to insure. I shipped a rare pick and insured for 400. US to US. it was cheap to add insurance.

but then do you have to declare the value you are insuring for? I just don't want to get massive import fees as a result.

If you want insurance and care if it gets lost/damaged you'll have to claim it and pay the fees or just hope everything goes well and if one of you gets the short end of the stick because you didn't want insurance, oh well.

Whatever value you claim, you will pay duties plus the provincial tax, even if you claim it as a gift. Anything valued at $100 or less will get bypassed by customs. Unfortunately to insure you have to claim the full value. Also, Don't quote me but if you use the post office, I believe they don't cover damage, only if it gets lost.

thanks!I know I probably could have gotten more for it cash-wise, but hey, if I'm happy and he's happy, it's all good. it wasn't my original intent to make anything off this anyway. I just wanted a copy of No Code on wax, which I also got when they issued the black version.

Yup---it all worked out. Looks like I'm going to strike out on my quest to trade for Lost Dogs, but I'll get it eventually.
