i've thought about this alot...and really can't choose..just "one". But i've come to a conclusion...FINALLY!!

"GIVEN TO FLY" words mean alot to me...great backround....has it all.

30 Others songs mean alot to ...i feel like i'm leaving alot out and not giving due to many, many great songs...but i had to choose "one"

Everytime i play it,...i SING, i DANCE, I MOVE MY HEAD, AND I GET EMOTIONAL.!!! NITE OR DAY, SICK OR HAPPY, it doesn't matter!!!

WHATS YOUR SONG? !!??!??!!?!?!?!?

Question, I love Clapton's ORIGINAL version of that tune, the intensity is great. Do you like the later, luded out version? I HATE the slow, mellow version. That song should be freaking intense. The remake that he did ages later sounds like he performed it after having electroshock therapy to get over her, but was just reciting the words in a dead fashion.

oh, i hate the remake he did at unplugged. im talking about the derek and the dominos version. the piano part in the second half of the song is the greatest thing my ears have ever heard.
  • Can't think of any that give me the chills because of emotion, but the line about winter in thumbing my way really reminds me of being out and feeling cold. The winter it came out was my 1st at uni and I would spend alot of time outside, for example walking back from the computer rooms in the early hours.

As for non-Pearl Jam songs? Cluster One by PinkFloyd seems to do something really wierd to me. I can't put it in words.

Evenflow...everytime I hear it. Probably because the very first time I EVER heard Pearl Jam was that song...up on a mountain overlooking Vancouver (I think it was Cypress)...and I was all "Who the heck is that! That's awesome!" It was some mountain bike downhill thing and Evenflow was being blasted over the loudspeakers...later that same day, we saw two tiny bear cubs being sent up a tree by their mother...they were so tiny! And then we got the heck out of there!! But yeah, hearing Evenflow will forever remind me of that day...

Man Of The Hour from Toronto 2nd night, 2nd song of first encore after Life Wasted Reprise. Never connected with that song until they played it that evening, felt an overwhelming surge of emotion and intensity when it started, and still carries over when I listen to it

  • To be specific..

Small Town - 10-01-2004 in Reading, PA
Indifference - 07-08-2003 in MSG with Ben Harper
Crazy Mary - 06-03-2006 at Continental Airlines Arena in NJ

It's the crowd mainly.. There are bootlegs of each version out there, if you haven't heard them I suggest checking them out. The Reading, PA show was a "Vote For Change" show, so no official boot, but there is a pretty good fan recording around.

    Good one.

Rearviewmirror - I couldn't even listen to it for a while. I had to fight some internal demons in order to distance myself from some people. The distance has actually brought me closer to these people. Miracles never cease ;)
Release - shivers down my spine.
Thumbing My Way - dunno what it is about that song, but the first time I listened to it I spontaneously started crying. Hit a nerve I guess.

But there is clearly a distinction to be made between valid confidence or self-esteem, and conceit - which we can describe as an inflated sense of importance, grounded in a false image of self.

  • IN MY TREE...Studio Version

I get so wrapped up in the lyrics that I seem to loose myself, regardless of where I am. The buildup of the drums by Jack Irons, the reality of the lyrics, the build up of Eddie's vocals (start off soft and then all the sudden seem to explode), the instrumental finale. It is all so beautiful.

"I got my innocence, still got it, still got it."

    BLACK...unplugged 1992.

I think that pretty much sums that up.

"I'm open": Maybe not the song itself but the text Eddie speaks before the music starts.

"Present Tense": Just bringing back good memories from my 1st PJ concert, Berlin 2006.
