Ohh Riot Act, ----->You Are
so listening with the cans on, the end is spectacular, the keys hidden amongst the vocals and guitar.  Love the guitar effect, has been one of my favorite riffs and sounds since the first listen.  Ed is at his best...man love this song

    I agree! It’s a bit offbeat and that guitar riff/effect is great. Love Matt’s songs. So happy to hear this at MSG in ‘03.

    I hate the music, I hate the lyrics, I hate the feel of the song.  Just not my cup of tea.

    One of my favorites.  A bit psychedelic.  Love the guitar effects.
    I've seen quite a few Pearl Jam shows.

    As I get older, I tend to lean more toward the songs in PJ's catalog that don't sound like traditional PJ songs.  According to the book Pearl Jam Twenty, songwriter Matt Cameron said "I had gotten a new drum machine that allows you to make up patterns, and then they'll play whatever audio instrument you plug in" resulting in guitar outbursts fed through a drum machine.

    I also think you can draw a line from this sort of studio experimentation to their first truly dance-rock song Dance Of The Clairvoyants years later that could easily be on a Strokes or Arcade Fire album.  PS: You Are sounded great live at ACL 2014 & is the 5th most listened-to Riot Act song on Spotify.

    Agree 2014 ACL was great as was You Are and that avatar looks like Ed with Jay-Z at made in America(?). We’ve probably sat next to each other at one point or another!

    I like it because it’s different.  I wouldn’t want to hear it every show, but once a tour would be great.
