So many people so scared of the dogwhistles. ...socialists and socialism.

Seems to work well for Israel and the
    Scandinavian countries.

Why are you scared of unbiased data? You ignore it but attack it at the same time,
    potentially.

This is what I’ve been saying, that the rest
of the free world knows, except a few here: there is no radical left in the states (yes, it’s a comedy bit, but it’s the truth)

    https://www.facebook.com/share/r/1ZYTLntK9W/?mibextid=wwXIfr
To the maga cultists if you are not supporting their orange savior then you're the "radical left"

Mamdani's policies related to real estate, such as socializing elements of the industry (e.g., massive public construction, deep rent freezes, and proposals for land seizure and conversion to social housing), are generally considered radical when compared to the historical mainstream of U.S. democratic party policy.

While the Democratic Party has historically supported government intervention in housing, the scale and ideological nature of Mamdani's proposals represent a significant shift leftward from established norms.

    Comparison with Historical Democratic Policy

Historical democratic policy on real estate and housing has generally focused on measures that support and stabilize the private market, rather than replacing it with a socialized model.

Mamdani's approach is often described as radical because it embraces tenets of democratic socialism, challenging the fundamental reliance on the capitalist, private-market real estate model:

    • Socialization/Seizure: The idea of the state seizing private property to convert it to public housing or advocating for a complete shift away from market-based housing radically departs from the traditional democratic framework, which, even in its most liberal forms, defends private property rights and market mechanisms as the primary drivers of housing supply.

    • Scale of Public Investment: The proposal for a $100 billion investment and the construction of 200,000 publicly-owned/subsidized units represents a scale of direct public intervention in the housing market far beyond recent Democratic norms.

    • Ideological Goal: The stated goal of treating housing as a right guaranteed by the state, rather than a commodity acquired on the market, is a core socialist principle that places his policies outside the mainstream of both modern and historical Democratic Party platforms, which have generally prioritized market stability and private-sector support.

The expected new head of CBS News. Stunner. Wow.

What I saw was a worldview that replaced basic ideas of good and evil with a new rubric: the powerless (good) and the powerful (bad). It replaced lots of things. Colorblindness with race-obsession. Ideas with identity. Debate with denunciation. Persuasion with public shaming. The rule of law with the fury of the mob.…

It started with the universities. Then it moved on to cultural institutions—including some I knew well, like The New York Times—as well as every major museumphilanthropy, and media company. Then on to our medical schools and our law schools. It’s taken root at nearly every major corporation. It’s inside our high schools and even our elementary schools. The takeover is so comprehensive that it’s now almost hard to notice it—because it is everywhere.

Of course this new ideology doesn’t come right out and say all that. It doesn’t even like to be named. Some call it wokeness or anti-racism or progressivism or safetyism or critical social justice or identity-Marxism. But whatever term you use, what’s clear is that it has gained power in a conceptual instrument called “diversity, equity and inclusion,” or DEI.

But “DEI” is not about the words it uses as camouflage. DEI is about arrogating power.

It calls itself progressive, but it does not believe in progress; it is explicitly anti-growth. It claims to promote “equity,” but its answer to the challenge of teaching math or reading to disadvantaged children is to eliminate math and reading tests. It demonizes hard work, merit, family, and the dignity of the individual.

An ideology that pathologizes these fundamental human virtues is one that seeks to undermine what makes America exceptional.

It is time to end DEI for good. No more standing by as people are encouraged to segregate themselves. No more forced declarations that you will prioritize identity over excellence. No more compelled speech. No more going along with little lies for the sake of being polite.

People calling for the removal of Bad Bunny as the SB halftime performer is interesting.

It was interesting to hear the comments at the bar last year about Kendrick Lamar performing, lol.

i saw there was a petitition to replace bad bunny with creed. and then rumors about having kid rock replace him.

if i am the committee that decides these things, i would just be like "fuck it, you all get an airplane flyover and a couple of high school marching bands for halftime this year. i would give you less if i could."

why does anybody care about halftime anyway? the game and it's outcome should be why people watch. instead it is now about commercials and the fucking 20 minutes in between the 2nd and 3rd quarters.

pretty lame if you ask me.

He was been overly political..The nfl is in a tough spot between the demos making billions off of its customer base and appeasing its players.

Let bad bunny have his big day. But that doesn’t absolve “Biden” for crapping the immigration border bed and ushering us to trump 2.0

Not at all a stunner if you’ve ever read anything by Bari Weiss. This is from two years ago for anyone curious, and for some reason lerxst decided to omit all mentions of her being Jewish and that this reflects her stance not just as an American but primarily as a Jew… aren’t you supposed to mention all important context? Bias?

If you have a SB/Bad Bunny take other than, 1. I'm excited 2. Don't really know much, I'm curious enough or 3. Not for me, nbd, You are a dope of the highest order.

Imagine caring about a 9 minute performance in between commercials and football for, (lets be real here) 2 teams you don't REALLY care about or have a emotional stake in, you are either an idiot or of the most privileged order.

the fact that the right is so upset about this is incredibly telling.

I do look forward to Lerx coming in here with a hard pivot saying how it’s the Democrats fault because a lot of people in Hollywood and especially the music industry are Democratic donors and they clearly let Bad Bunny become this popular and it’s their fault that they’re losing middle America becauseBad Bunny’s popularity is evidence of how they have lost touch with the real America.

I was trying to keep that war topic within that war thread, and instead here focus on her top level politics.

Framing Jews as victims of DEI (based on the lefts one sided views on that war) at the Times is complex. I was focusing more on her overall perception of the woke establishment, of which has become the foundation of democratic politics the last five years. When I saw her on Maher five years ago, I did not relate to her story in any way, and around then, I suspended my watching of Maher until 2024. I was blind to the woke.

Barri and I both voted for Biden, but something very unusual began to evolve from the party since then. I will still vote for the Dems, but I doubt she will, unless the party ever wakes up, which is ironic given the title of this thread .

To have the person running cbs news with that viewpoint is a win for fairness.

a real conservative would tell you to take your chicken wings and potato chips and beer and change the channel for a half hour, but maga wants to change what is even being offered during the broadcast.

let them lose their minds over this. it keeps them distracted from how badly trump is cornholing them.

So you don;t agree that it's a declaration of war against football loving american's ears?
It's been this way for the past 5 or 6 years if you ask certain people.  The NFL has been a wee bit more edgey with who they get to perform.
