Moline - When Did You Know?

OzzieOzzie Posts: 230
Sitting here listening to Vault 10 and loving it. My thoughts are for those lucky enough to be in attendance - when did you realise you were getting No Code in entirety? At Smile or something did you figure it was no coincidence so far or did you wait until every track was played?

yep, you can hear the audible gasp through the arena.

sometimes "alright a No Code track early in the set"
Hail, Hail  "oh shit 2 from No Code, that's more than last night"
Who You Are "HOLY FUCKING SHIT IS THIS HAPPENING"

Yeah I'd have probably been too nervous to jinx it until the final track haha

It took me an embarrassing amount of time actually. I kept turning to my uncle and saying “holy shit, they’re playing ANOTHER ONE from No Code!” Until finally facepalming realizing somewhere around Smile or so. Such a strange combination of joy and shame.

Anyone else pick up that Jeff starts playing the ‘In My Tree’ bass line before ‘Who You Are’

    mistake or deliberate?

100% mistake. Ed calmly walked over and said something then stalled with some great crowd banter.

Yup. I had a hunch it was going to be the special night of the tour. So when Who You Are began I was smiling ear to ear. What a night.

Same.  It was a very long pre-game before the show and I was definitely not sober when the show started.  After a few songs I turned to my buddy I was with and said "they're playing a lot off of No Code, huh?".   I think halfway through In My Tree I realized what was happening.  What a night!

I have no such excuse. Just wasn’t considering the order of the songs. Also, opening with Small Town might have thrown me off, if they would have started with Sometimes it might have been more obvious.
  • As others have said  when "Who You Are" started. Side note. The setlist must have leaked early. When I was in line to get a beer before they came on someone asked if I wanted to see the set. I said no. They said alright but left saying something along the lines of "you are in for a treat" so I had an idea we were going to get something special. I just assumed a rare song or two.

Yup, as soon as Who You Are started, I looked over at my brother and showed him 3 fingers, and he responded with an "hmm, oh yeah" nod.

I didn't figure it out until Smile, which I feel stupid about.  I just never thought they would do that at a show that I was attending.  LOL

Like others said, “Who You Are.” But a friend that I was with had to turn to me and connect the dots before l got what was happening. Then it was pure adrenaline all night. Watching Stone and Jeff switch instruments for Smile. Knowing Stone was going to sing. Realizing I was going to hear songs I didn’t think I’d ever hear live. Being 3 or 4 people back in front of Stone all night made it all the more special. Best crowd I’ve ever seen at any show I’ve been to.

    Blasphemous.

Like an idiot I hit the road right after the Detroit show ended and drove through the night. I arrived at the venue where I parked right as the crew buses and equipment trucks rolled in. In hindsight it was a stupid thing to do. Ah well.

Like the others I only realized during Smile and when I checked my text messages I understood what was happening. As I recall at the 2016 Toronto show @BeerBaron and I turned to each other right as Gods’ Dice began and said “they’re playing Binaural!” hehe.

Jelly of those that were there. It’s my favorite album. I was lucky enough to see MMJ do their entire catalog, which was amazing.
This show, another show, a show here and a show there.

Maybe it's too early in the morning and I'm not understanding, but is the "in hindsight it was a stupid thing to do" because you didn't get any sleep?  Sounds like you saw the whole show, I guess I'm missing what the problem was.

I was confused a little too. I think it’s because he didn’t get any sleep after he got to Moline?

Wow. That's wild. Go get some rest!!
I stayed up for 24 hours pj fenway. Early for merch, up late to say hi to ev! No driving till I got a few hours of sleep. Wasn't tired because of the whole show buzz. Better than gallons of coffee. Good times. Likely wouldn't do it again...who knows!!
