Made it out to WHERE and had a smoke in a tree?

Double posting… might get more traction here

This thread is crowdsourcing for a podcast project I’m working on. We’re looking to do extensive coverage of Given To Fly, what I want to do is find as many location name drops that Ed added into the smoke in a tree line. I think some of the prominent ones have been ballparks… “made it out to Wrigley/Fenway had a smoke in a tree.” There have been other locations used as pandering moments in the song. Probably the Garden, probably Philly. But definitely a lot that I’m not even thinking of, or considering.

so if you know of specific versions from shows you went to or boots you’ve listened to that pander to the hometown crowd, please share those versions! Let’s see how many we can get. Thanks!

    Pretty sure Rome 18 had it. Cant verify right now but heard the boot the other day and think it did.

    Made it to the hammer - sep 2015 (Hamilton)
    Made it to the ballpark I believe was Boston night 1 2016

    not a specific location, but whenever Ed is in Canada, he likes to mention drinking. At Winnipeg 05, he changed it to "made it to the ocean, had a drink in a tree". It felt like he changed that lyric to pander to the crowd. 

    unless he commonly changes "smoke" to something else, I'm not sure.

    I was at each of those shows. That Of the Girl opener in 2009 was so good and the weather was perfect.

    that's from a version I hear all the time. is it more like "well fuckers....he still stands" or are you sure he says "I still stand"? maybe there's more than one like that.
