Ok, to keep us on the movie path. I decided to pull some great sequels from my memory to discuss what we think is the BEST MOVIE SEQUEL from this list. Now I know that some of you may have other sequels that you think are better than all on the list, but lets just let this go for the time being. Pick the film that you think is the WEAKEST LINK from the ones provided and when we finish we can discuss if anyone has any that could maybe beat our winner here.

Now to the 1st Round to determine the BEST MOVIE SEQUEL from the films listed.

You are going to pick the film that you think is the "Weakest Link" after 2 days I remove the two (2) movie with the most votes. We will then move on to ROUND 2.

THE GODFATHER, PART II (1974)
ALIENS (1986)
EVIL DEAD 2: DEAD BY DAWN (1987)
THE DARK KNIGHT (2008)

TERMINATOR 2: JUDGMENT DAY (1991)
MAD MAX 2: THE ROAD WARRIOR (1982)
CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER (2014)
INDIANA JONES AND THE LAST CRUSADE (1989)

BACK TO THE FUTURE PART II
Shouldn't we be using Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (the 2nd movie, Last Crusade is the 3rd)?
All the others are the 2nd in a series.

I think he's trying to go with "good" sequels.

Because I don't think it's good. I know the consensus does, though.

Yes. I was just going by what I thought was the best of the sequels.

Temple of Doom was very underrated imo.  Very very dark storyline.

And if you consider The Last Crusade a sequel (as in a followup but nor part 2).

Then where is Exorcist III or A Nightmare on Elm Street part3: The Dream Warriors?

The Last Crusade didn't have Dokken on the soundtrack.

The more flagrant racism is hard to overlook in this one, though. Also, the nepotistic casting of Kate Capshaw did not go so well.

EVIL DEAD 2: DEAD BY DAWN
Some very tough choices here. Those James Cameron films are some of my favorites. Also lots of love for Road Warrior. Godfather is obviously the best movie on here though. Back to the Future II wasn't terrible, but it wasn't that good. Fun moments for sure and at least Mary Steenburgen wasn't ruining every scene. I've never seen Evil Dead 2 so I have to vote for it. Last Crusade is a fun and light hearted Indy that I always enjoyed, but nothing will ever come close to the original. Melting wax nazis is hard to beat.

Most of these are a much darker entry in their respective series if they are the number 2 movie and I like that for the most part. With Batman, you could have picked the original movies too. Burton pissed off people by going so dark, even darker than the dark knight by toying with some BDSM. Made it hard for the sponsors to push products to kids like they wanted.
    It's a hopeless situation...

Yes, lots of cultural generalizations and exaggerations that have not aged well. I always enjoyed this movie once they got in the cave area, but it did seem like they coasted on the plot and again, fucking Capshaw. Let's add a ditzy female to the cast after having a strong female in the original. It was like they were trying to balance the dark plot with her over the top hysterics and a sidekick kid comedian.

Edit: Now that I think of it, it was more like a parody and the Bond-esque beginning only adds to that image.

This is a good one, although I don't see how GF II doesn't win.  Empire is amazing though..

When it comes down to the plot, it's place in the series and overall quality, those 2 are the best of the bunch. Probably explains why the follow-up to both could never be repeated. No matter how many movies they add to the Star Wars franchise, nothing tops Empire, but at least none of the sequels can equal the colossal failure of GFIII, although Menace comes close.

Wow.  This is going to get tough quickly.  Between Godfather, Star Wars and Terminator, there are some heavy hitters here.

I'm flabbergasted that a gambler voted against Back to the Future II in the first round.

Also, @MedozK : Where the fuck is City Slickers II: The Legend of Curly's Gold

I hear ya but I just don't like the movie very much, especially compared to the first one.
The "book" is of course the best part about this movie.

I think Dark Knight is as good as Terminator.  GF and SW are probably a step above, being all timers of movies.

DbD is my personal favorite out of this poll.

Weird how it was marketed as a sequel when it's really mostly just a remake with a bigger budget.

Sam still got the yellow car in there.

MAD MAX 2: THE ROAD WARRIOR
Mad Max does nothing for me.

I've never seen the Evil Dead film, otherwise maybe it gets my vote.

At least three of these films are classics and none of them is The Dark Knight.

Agree fully. It’s Godfather then Star Wars for me in that order. Then T2 and Dark Knight in a lower tier.

MAD MAX 2: THE ROAD WARRIOR
    Empire
    Godfather 2
    Last Crusade
    Winter Soldier
    BTTF 2
    T2
    The Dark Knight
    Aliens
    Mad Max
    Evil Dead

My official power rankings. Big drop-off after T2. Biggest battles are between 3/4 and 7/8. Evil Dead at bottom because I have never seen it. Also I spent two minutes on this and it could change tomorrow.

Yea, I love Army of Darkness. I almost picked it instead of 2. I love to look for the old Delta 88 in all of Sam's movies.
