This post reminds me - does anyone call 411 anymore for information. Does it even still exist? I also remember calling the phone number for the weather every day before work, and once in a while calling the time. I think the number for the time started with 844 - “At the tone the time will be ....”
Ah , the time. Yep, used to call the time to try and get your digital watch set to the exact second, got to be ready to press that button as soon as you hear the beep. It also gave you the temperature (at least the local one here did). "At the tone the time will be 9:48 and 40 seconds...beeeeep, temperature 48 degrees...at the tone the time will be 9:48 and 50 seconds....."
And as for 411, it does still exist. The owner of my company's brother who does some work out of our office/share's our office manager still uses it. I hear him in the next room calling it on his cell phone, asking for a phone number (most recently his dentist's office), then I'll Google what he's looking for, scribble down the number and put it on the desk in front of him while he's still waiting for 411 to get him an answer. He's 75 or 76, can't break old habits apparently.
This weekend we rock Portland
