There's a lot of people apparently in a position to burn their money for kicks..... the card collecting resale market is bonkers too. Who would have thought that those $1/$2 packs of cards back in the 80s and early nineties may reward you with a card or two that someone is willing to spends hundreds of dollars for today.

Are cards a thing again?  I think a lot of people collected cards in the early 90s.    So many of us have a box of cards somewhere from that era :)  I always assumed they weren't worth much because so many were printed (due to popularity).
The only stuff from that era going for a decent amount are the top cards with 10 grades. UD Griffey and things like that. Vintage and new releases are on fire, though.
Going to get my Lebron James rookie card graded. Found it last summer in a shoebox. Might be worth something some day.

  • Digital cards are all the rage these days. Topps has a few different games available as apps and if you look on eBay you’ll see what I’m talking about. Also nba top shot.

How do you get cards graded? I have the Upper Deck Griffey rookie card that I’d like to get graded.

That's the card that caught my attention in the recent news article I read. I also have that one, some sets, most of mine are hockey cards. Ken Griffey was the reason I gave baseball a sniff following the Blue Jays world series run. Will our toddler give a hoot about collectible cards? I doubt it. Be well, everyone

I’ve owned and enjoyed a Benaroya set! Now it’s with a new owner and good dude in PJ land. I am going to have it and some other cards graded and wait to see what happens in 10 years when my first goes off to college.

You have to send them to https://www.psacard.com/ You can also do Backett or GMA also. They are all about the same.

I looked into it a few years ago and it is expensive to have them graded.

I had the year set for 1988 baseball cards and a couple others. Gave them away a few years ago because it was worth next to nothing. Hard to believe anything from that era is worth the paper it was printed on. Cards from the 60s and earlier are worth a lot because kids played with them, pinned them to their wall then threw them away. By the 80s kids got them just to collect. As a general rule, things made to collect aren’t very collectible in the end.

Accidentally posted this in wrong thread. Meant to go here.
Since some of you may be flush with stimulus cash, let me know if you are interested and happen to be in the Akron-Cleveland area. Maybe saving on fees and the hassle of shipping it, we can make a deal. Unopened. No poster or original shipping box.

That is nothing compared to what an original Beatles Butcher cover goes for. I see that in the background.

Yeah, not us. Paid off remaining credit card debt, rest in savings. Zero credit cards debt for the first time since in 15 years. Feels good! Thanks government!
