2020 was the worst year of my life.

My girlfriend broke up with me in March (still apart), and I lost my job in July (still unemployed).

As I count the remaining seconds, minutes, hours, and days in this God-forgotten year, I'd love to hear about something good that happened to you this year.

Here's to a future paved with better days in 2021.

Peace.

Andrew

    I’m not pregnant!

Really, I’m sorry for what you’ve experienced this year. What a nice and humbling post.

Off the top of my head:

I found out I do not have pancreatic cancer
    My disability came through
We adopted a precious kitten who has made our (and our other cat’s) lives that much sweeter; hers, too
I’ve managed to avoid the virus, as have those I love
Weathered a scary hospital stay and was blown away by the care and compassion extended by the overworked nurses who looked after me in the midst of covid
    Got a new Puscifer album!

Above all, this year has made dear friends more cherished, and I’ve learned more about patience, comfort with self, and how...right...my husband and I are.

And, that I have so much yet to learn. I look forward to it, regardless of how I get there.

Instead of traveling, we enjoyed lake front camping with extended family.

We tried a new, all outdoor paddling camp this year!

Instead of spring skiing, we took up cycling along the beaches.

We did alot more ziplining this year.

Instead of trick-or-treating we did a fun scare walk.

    I enjoyed water-skiing, as usual.

I cycled at home listening to Gigaton quite a bit!

Did I mention we got Gigaton?

We appreciated intimate live music instead of big concerts.

We welcomed Milkshake, a pomeranian puppy, into our home. He got us out for walks and my child had a new playmate to brighten our days!

We helped a family member secure housing and furnishings.

We got a new waterslide pool for yard play.

We had appreciation and more gratitude than ever for little things.

We had less negative impact on Mother Earth.

We loved one another even more!

Also, my daughter wrote her first song called Grandpa after his passing. She is gifted with rhyme, deep love and care, along with melody.

    I had a great humbling moment .
My children  all put money together to get me a new phone. I haven't had a new phone since Samsung s4  or so maybe. Always 2nd or 3rd or 4th hand.
    My eldest is 22 . Then 19 then 17 then 3.
The elders live with their mum we all get on well. But on Xmas day they gave me a new phone and I thought . What a wonderful  gesture.  Every year I make it clear I need nothing except love.
My kids are an absolute  credit to me and I feel I raised them right when I see others near to me whos kids couldn't give a rats ass about anyone other than self.

    Feels good, right?

Depending on how next year goes, I may be looking for one too.

Might be interesting going with a male one. I’ve always requested a female, but that’s unimportant to me now.

So sorry to hear it's been a bad year for you, Andrew.  I hope 2021 is much better for you!

My year has been a mixed bag.  Because of the pandemic and due to my age and compromised immune system, I opted to stay safe and stopped working at the bookstore.  I hated to quit but it also gave me more time to focus on my on-line book sales and I still keep up the vinyl section at the store after hours.  And I have time to walk every day which is a good thing.

It's been a rough year for so many and I'm very sorry for that.  So when a friend of mine- a musician no less!- told me this was the best year of his life, I was very, very happy for him.  Not many can say that and I was very glad because this guys has had some bad breaks and deserved to have a good year, even if it is 2020!

Wishing you all a  better 2021.

“The fear of death follows from the fear of life. A man [or woman] who lives fully is prepared to die at any time.”
Variously credited to Mark Twain or Edward Abbey.
