Given to Fly: top five pearl jam song

Just sitting here post Thanksgiving dinner and asked Alexa to play Given to Fly.   My god this song is fucking amazing.  I always knew it was good but just realized it is THAT good.  Top 5 song for sure.  Has there ever been a bad version of Given to Fly live?
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Loved the Global Citizen version dedicated to Malala Yousafzai - 'fuckers, she still stands' . That gave me chills.

One of the greats. As long as it isn’t bumping Immortality off the list.  =)

It’s definitely a top 5 for me... but at any given time I probably have 10 songs in my top 5.
    1996: Randall's Island 2  1998: East Rutherford | MSG 1 & 2  2000: Cincinnati | Columbus | Jones Beach 1, 2, & 3 | Boston 1 | Camden 1 & 2 2003: Philadelphia | Uniondale | MSG 1 & 2 | Holmdel  2005: Atlantic City 1  2006: Camden 1 | East Rutherford 1 & 2 2008: Camden 1 & 2 | MSG 1 & 2 | Newark (EV)  2009: Philadelphia 1, 2 & 4  2010: Newark | MSG 1 & 2  2011: Toronto 1  2013: Wrigley Field | Brooklyn 2 | Philadelphia 1 & 2 | Baltimore  2015: Central Park  2016: Philadelphia 1 & 2 | MSG 1 & 2 | Fenway Park 2 | MSG (TOTD)  2017: Brooklyn (RnR HOF)  2020: MSG | Asbury Park  2021: Asbury Park  2022: MSG | Camden | Nashville  2024: MSG 1 & 2 (#50) | Philadelphia 1 & 2 | Baltimore

  • Naaa a nice song, one I didn’t like much on first listen and grew on me a bit, but it still doesn’t make my top 5 off of Yield even.

Amazing song and nice surprise to have it open at Wrigley 2 in 2018.

As far as best on Yield I am not sure how this does not crack top 5. Brain of J, Faithful, and In Hiding are the only songs that can compete imo on a great album. Now if you said DTE did not crack the top 5 for Yield that I can agree with!

Picking a favorite PJ song is a brutal task but if had to pick mine, it would be GTF!

Hard to pick a true top 5 from the catalog but definitely a top song for me. Only In Hiding beats it on Yield.

Not sure I have a top 5, it’s a a great album, but I think I prefer every other track except The Color Red, Pilate and Push Me, Pull Me really.
  • One of my faves too. The version from Great Woods night 3 (7/11/03) is tremendous.  I just wish they'd slow it down a bit now. They play it too fast.

May be my go-to song (live version, for sure) when attempting to make “non- (or casual) fans” realize how fucking awesome PJ is 😃

Has to be top three live PJ songs of all time, right?

Was fortunate enough to experience this song live in San Sebastián, Spain (May 26, 2000). Best concert experience of my life! I’ve caught GTF many times live but that night’s version was unreal and impacted me in ways words can’t describe.
