I love stern but this will suck. He’s a great interviewer EXCEPT to musicians. stern has shit taste in music. His cornell interviews sucked. Howard is talking about how much he loves Avril Levine (sp?) now. He also has already mentioned Kurt v. Eddie. I think Fred is a Pearl Jam fan. Let’s hope he helped prep Howard.

Stern is a huge PJ fan....me thinks you have no idea what you are talking about.
Remember the Thomas Nine !! (10/02/2018) The Golden Age is 2 months away. And guess what….. you’re gonna love it! (teskeinc 11.19.24)

Yeah, Stern loves The Who, and classic rock stuff. I think he has a great respect for Pearl Jam to be honest. Surprised EV agreed to go on. I wonder if he is going to rant about the election?
From what I've seen and heard I think the whole "Stern is the best interviewer ever" is very much overblown. I've listened mostly to his later stuff and stayed away from the weird "shock jock" shit and degrading contests and shit towards women (which makes it to me surprising to me that Eddie is willing to go on that show, out of all places that must reach out to get Eddie).
Not saying Stern is a bad interviewer though. But more often than not the questions are kind of basic or he's clearly out to get something salacious out of the interviewee (is that a word?). But from the short clips he uploads on youtube, there is always interesting stuff the guests say - whether it's Paul McCartney or Alanis Morrisette or whoever.
I have found the conversations at other places better - like with Marc Maron where even with him admitting he wasn't much of a grunge guy suddenly showed some surprising knowledge of the 80s Seattle Scene when he interviews Cornell. The same when he talked to Neil Young. He doesn't need to know the exact details, because he has an interest in it and you can tell that he has picked up stuff about all kinds of music (and other things). I think I prefer someone like Marc Maron more because it turns into a discussion/conversation, more than a Q&A. I don't feel the same thing with Stern.
But anyways, I hope Eddie plays an acoustic version of Just a Girl.

Also, didn't Stern namedrop Eddie Vedder (and Neil Young) in that video from where Stern talked about how they need to work to make the Stern-show more premium and better.
Ed admitting he still hasn't really dealt with losing Chris Cornell. Admitted he only saw him 4-5 times over the past 10 years, but talked about how close they were. A lot of denial and scared to let himself deal with it too much.
Also spoke of losing his youngest brother in 2016 and how bad things got for him. I'm not sure I remember hearing that or if it was public at all.
Really enjoying this interview. Eddie is being very open and honest - you can feel the emotion when Howard asks some hard questions regarding Chris Cornell, etc.
