I agree with you on that. Interestingly though, I read where EVH thinks he got his tongue cancer (which then spread to his esophagus) from holding metal guitar picks in his mouth over many, many years. He also claimed that his lungs were fine and cancer free so go figure. Regardless, smoking is bad news! Rest In Peace Eddie Van Halen.

Saw Eddie in 1978 when they backed up Sabbath. Looking back, it was an honor and privilege. GB Eddie and his family. Huge loss.

Thanks for posting.  I was lucky to be at both shows that they played this.  Pure magic each time.  I really love it when they play in Hartford, just pure fun every time.

He’s a 70s and 80s legend but even when grunge was exploding EVH was still badass.   His 90s stuff was more serious but just as enjoyable IMO.

    Amazing musician.

That sucks.   I absolutely fell in love with 1984 in my youth (and have it cranked up right now).

I finally got a chance to see Van Halen around 2007 after years of it not working out.   Very happy I got the chance to see 'em live.

  • For some of the younger generation who are not very familiar with Eddie's playing, here is a taste of his magical talent. He influenced the guitar world from 1978 to 2020.

The Van Halen logo was all over my Jr High school binders. I still remember the first time i saw the video for Jump at 12 years old. Became a fan immediately. Another legend gone.

Very few musicians have left their mark in a manner that you know you’ll never see another one like them.
He’s like Brian Wilson.  They hear music differently.

There’s still nobody that sounds like him even tho everyone tries.  It’s bizarre.
