Because it should apply to all. Then they can release all the findings and say see it was only the conservative justices. Or if the liberal justices also have benefitted under the table they can say see the law applies equally. Couple of things: there are no laws that apply specifically to SCOTUS and their actions, unless they were charged with murder or theft or something. They’re not even required to recuse themselves from cases with which they have a conflict. It’s mostly an honour system. The allegations and evidence against Thomas and Alito are especially egregious and I don’t think you’ll find anything that comes anywhere close or is comparable. Otherwise, we would have heard of it by now in their defense. And Chief Justice Roberts doesn’t believe there’s an issue in need of fixing. A further corruption of our democratic systems by those afraid of “the other.” Can’t win on policy or by votes, corrupt the system to get and keep power. The con members all share the same ideology. And will lie under oath as they did during their confirmation hearings regarding Roe.static111 said:

Are you sayingbthe IRS doesnt have laws against concealing monetary gains if you are a supreme court justice? Then why have an irs probe? Well in that case I guess we shouldn't run an inquiry since there are no laws and the chief justice of our highest court doesn't think there is a problem. Yes alito and Thomas have a mountain of hidden bullshit, but unless an inquiry is made equally to all justices it will just be perceived as another partisan attack. IRS tax investigations are typically not public unless the target is charged with a crime for violating the law. That’s how it is. If any justice accepts gifts and doesn’t report them or under reports them and the IRS finds it via an audit, they apologize and pay the penalties, it goes away. The IRS doesn’t publicize their investigations or the targets of audits. Whether they’re supposed to disclose that voluntarily via a court requirement, it’s not a violation of law. Thomas and Alito have come to light because the media dug into it, propublica, and as such, because of the who and how much, and the business before the court, dems are asking for the IRS to look into it. This shit doesn’t happen in a vacuum. Do you find it odd that SCOTUS went 72-0 on con and corporate rulings? Check out Senator Whitehouse’s investigation into this shot. I agree with everything you posted. Unfortunately whether you or I like it or not it will look to John and Jane q public as another attack on conservatives unless the same digging is done to libs and even then it probably still will look like an attack by bidens irs that didn't apply standards equally etc. Lose lose situation if there are no real penalties at play.
