It's OK, Jones Beach, 20 years ago today

Quick acknowledgement of the anniversary of an amazing live moment. The show was rather solemn and reserved, but the spirits were lifted considerably during this Daughter tag. I was in the nosebleeds, but could feel the energy from the floor. A fantastic moment, and still a video clip I watch regularly from Touring Band.

Great clip indeed. One of the ones I like to watch often as well.

This clip blew my mind when I got Touring Band. I used to make my friends in college watch it.

Seeing an It’s OK tag is one of my biggest hopes for every show I attend; still haven’t gotten one. Really hope they do it whenever I get to see them again.

I made all three shows at Jones Beach and had a blast.  If I remember right, KROCK rebroadcast the show immediately after it was over and we got to listen on the drive back to NJ.

Pretty sure I’ve seen it twice... at Jones Beach and if my memory is correct we were also lucky enough to get it at the 9/11/11 show in Toronto.

My personal favorite tag bar none.  I'd also say check out the original by Dead Moon as it's great.  The Spanish version in Mexico City in 2005 is also great.

The moment at a live show when the main part of Daughter ends and the transition to another song begins is a moment of great anticipation.  It is other worldly when the first few notes of It’s OK emerge.  It’s a bit of a downer when it transitions to something else, although sometimes there’s a middle song before It’s OK, such as WMA.  That’s a great 3 part song when it happens, such as at Seattle 2 and Boston 1, 2018.  Man, someone cure this virus already.  We need some shows.

When compared to night 3, night 2 was quite reserved. At least that's the feeling I got when I heard the night 3 bootleg. (Still have never listened to the night 1 boot for some reason).

    20 years. Jesus.
I was on Stone's side for N2, about a dozen rows back.
Took my best friend from middle school.
What a visceral memory, and that Daughter/It's Ok remains my favorite singular PJ moment I've seen live.

    This is awesome!
I used to do the same in college, almost as a way to “validate” my PJ obsession 🤪

A number of years ago, I made a PJ mix CD. When it came to Daughter, it was a toss-up between two versions of Daughter.

Virginia Beach 2000 won out over Jones Beach.

Heard it in Quebec City 2016. Probably my favourite highlight of any show from any band that I have ever seen at a live concert.

In 2018 they played this 8 times and I was lucky to see it 4 of those. I hope in 2021 they keep that number up and the crowd gets into this song and sings it loud!

They started doing it right after my last show in 2018 (Prague) and pretty much played it for the rest of the year.

Thanks! I’ve said a few times that I’m definitely going to get emotional whenever I get to a show again; an It’s OK tag might really destroy me.

Thanks for posting this. This is one of my all time favorite PJ moments even though I wasnt there that night. That version is perfect.  This post also had me go back and replay all of Touring Band 2000. Forgot how great it was/is.

also agree with the post above. The next real PJ show I get too is going to be so incredibly emotional. Like reconnecting with a long lost friend. No matter how long it takes it will be incredible. Getting goose bumps just imaging the first note if the first song at the next show I get too.

We made a PJ party every year in my town..couple years ago, in one of those parties, there was an old guy sitting on the bar and singing every song we played..during Daughter(Jones beach version), he starts to cry..we approach him and ask him whats going on..
he was in that show and he was lost his good friend days before the show..rest of the night he tell us stories from those days..

That's a great version for sure! I'm still searching for that 2000 show where Daughter was tagged with Sly & The Family Stone's Thank You (Falletinme Be Mice Elf Agin). Can anybody help me out here?

This was my first show.  Was already a die hard fan, got tickets for my high school graduation, had no idea what to expect given the circumstances, and it stands as one of my favorite shows.
