Can we talk about Jeff’s bass?

What are your favorite bass lines?
What are the parts that really stand out?

For me it seems like I really gotta be paying attention to pick up on some of the nuance and little intricate details he’s Putting down, and sometimes I wish he would get a little more boost in the mix so you could hear it better.  Not as a comparison in style or anything but the way you can hear the bass part really well in a lot of Radiohead makes you appreciate those really cool bass parts, but I know that would probably change the sound of Pearl Jam if they were to mix like that, in fact it would probably be really weird, but I digress, just want to hear the thoughts of others on the great parts Jeff has played.  I don’t pick up on all of them so I want to hear recommendations.

his lines at the end of black are still some of my favorite, and it baffles me to no end why they were lowered in the redux version.

I love Jeff’s sound and his mix level on Gigaton. It’s the best he has ever sounded. I wish Josh would remix all the albums. Matt and Jeff sound so good. Great stuff.
    Peace,Love and Pearl Jam.

Jeff’s gnarly base line that kicks in with about a minute and a half left in Quick Escape is just fantastic!! He’s way underrated for his contributions to the band’s sound.

Totally agree. It was a great surprise and one of the reasons I love Gigaton.

Inside Job is one of my favorite Jeff's bass lines, besides Jeremy, of course, the song is built upon the bass line, and the sound of the 12 string Hammer is awesome

His bass riffs and tone on My Father's Son are also EPIC!
It's one of my favorite songs from Lightning Bolt.

Man I love that song.  I didn’t realize until i watched those lightning bolt promo interviews that that song is basically 2 bass tracks.  Eddie’s got that angry snarl going too. It’s that intensity we need from him.

Quick Escape quickly became a favorite of mine, mostly because of that dirty bass.  It sounds very Era Vulgaris era QOTSA to me.

Isn't that Mike McCready playing bass on MFS?

Also, Present Tense is full of prime, JA bass awesomeness.

There are 2 bass parts, I believe, as someone mentioned above. A fingered part and a strummed part. I believe McCready is playing the strummed part but I could be way off.

I love seeing all the comments about Jeff on Gigaton. It was one of the things I noticed on my first listen and I can’t wait to hear Quick Escape live because of his play on that song. It’s unreal.
