    I survived!

I was expecting around 2:40-2:45 with 2;30 as my big goal to aim for.

    I ran it in 2:25  :)

I felt great for the first 7, then started to feel the fatigue. A lot of hills at the middle so made sense. I benefitted from knowing the course so could pace some walks at the right time. In the end I lost only 12 seconds per mile on the back half than the first, so I was pretty consistent. 9 was the most I ran before, and i could sense my mental energy drain at mile 11 but rallied with the end in sight. Felt good after, but pretty soon started to get sore. Didn't sleep well last night but I'm still mobile! Most frustrating thing of the day was I hit my Garmin as I crossed the line...at 13.09...so my app doesn't catalog I did a Half  :|

Still amazed I did this. I started the year running .8 miles at the indoor track at the Y and ended with a half. Gonna take some time off, and then back at it for possibly Richmond Half in March. Thanks for the support and the tips here over the past few months. Hope everyone else's runs are going well!

That is AWESOME!!!! Congrats. Amazing achievement. 👏👏👏 I haven’t been posting much on here because I’m not really training for anything. Just doing my same three runs a week. But I am following you all here who are doing these spectacular runs and it is still very motivating to me.
GlowGirl it wouldn't be the same here without you, that's the best thing about running, we all have our own stories/ journeys with running, different reasons for doing it, and it's all important an amazing. I've said before what this little thread and it's little community means to me, it's awesome

Taking a week or 2 totally off now, get myself recovered, next year I have a spring marathon, a summer 46 mile ultra and then in September I'm back at the robinhood 100 miler in Sherwood forest...

    5 main races this year....

    9th place
    Race cancelled
    DNF
    90 minute half marathon
    3rd place.

A mixed bag but all valuable experiences
  • Met with a sports medicine pain specialist today. Scheduled for an ultrasound guided trigger point injection in 2 weeks. Can't wait to see if it is what I need to get rid of this issue.

Good luck. I hope it helps. Today I did weights for the first time in a few weeks. Now my lower back is tweaky. Sigh!! Tomorrow I will run.
  • My injection has been moved up to next week! You can't believe how exited I am for this needle 😄

Recovered quite well actually, was expecting to be sore for longer. Enjoying this week of relaxing after work instead of running though 😁

I ran yesterday. My lower back is still sore. It doesn't hurt when I run, but today I woke up with some pain. I am supposed to do weights tomorrow again, but may hold off. Next run is Saturday.

Sorry to hear.  Mine is still acting up, although I admit I'm back to full exercise regiment and some of them are specifically aimed at the back.
    Hope yours improves!

Hope you feel better as well. All these aches and pains really suck. I never used to get sore. UGH!

Ran a kids 1 miler with the 9 year old this morning....followed by a brief rest and a 5k dressed as an elf.
I was a few seconds off my time from last year but finished 5th in my age group.

The son got 2nd overall in the 1 miler.  Ran a 6:51.
I blame him for my slower 5k, since I didn't expect my warm up mile (normally a 9 or 10 slow jog) to be a sub 7!

Very proud of the little guy, and he was proud of himself.  He trained fairly well and last year he ran a low 9 minute mile, so he too off more than 2 minutes from his previous best.
He is small for 9 as well, he loved zooming past all of the taller kids.
He made a big push to catch the winner, but the kid saw him coming and kicked it in over the final hundred yards to stave off Tommy.

That is awesome. You must be very proud of him. He is following in your footsteps. Soon he might be passing you 😀
  • I got my trigger point injection today. Dr said I can try running this weekend. I'm hopeful this does the trick. Leg is a bit sore today, so hard to tell right now if it is helping or not

First run back after 2 weeks off. Enjoyed the break but good to get back to it.

Listened to AIC self titled on the run so plenty of dirty guitar face happening
