Thinking/speaking/writing of tech: I've tried an AI training app on and off over the last 6-7 months, and I am not impressed. It promises flexibility but doesn't deliver; it cannot deal with city running (stopping at stoplights etc); it sets my easy runs at a pace so slow I cannot do them; and it provides inadequate training for long runs (marathons, ultras, etc).I tried tweaking all of the settings. I told it my goal was to run a double-marathon. And it still spat out three weeks of 30-40 minute runs at me (I run 90 minutes/day with a longer run on weekends).Maybe this is why I'm not freaking out about AI taking over everything just yet. A real coach would provide a much better plan -- and I could do better for myself, too.All those who seek to destroy the liberties of a democratic nation ought to know that war is the surest and shortest means to accomplish it.0

Have no desire to share with others out there and haven't messed with Strava
5k today...more than a minute off my time from the 2 weeks ago. Bunch of hills to manage, today.
Still ran well
4th place overall , 2nd in 35-49 category.
(Wtf is with that category? Would have been first in the standard 40-49, lol. Winner ran a 17 minute race and was 37 years old.)0 -
F Me In The Brain said:Also, my son won his race...they had a short sprint, about 100 yards, broken out into age groups. He only had 9 others to race, but he smoked them
He was stressing before. "Dad, I know I can win the longer races, but I'm not sure about the short ones."I love it.

10 miles today, last run of any significance before next Saturday and hopefully another 100 mile effort. I'll do 1 or 2 easy leg looseness in the week but mostly wrap myself up in cotton wool0

I'm running my first 5k race next weekend, I don't know what to expect as I really don't like their shorter distance races.0 -

I'm not sure, ill find out. It's a 5 mile trail loop completed as many times as we wish in 24 hours. I know there is a scoreboard at the start of each loop so we can see where we are, so we must have trackers. But I'm sure like the last one I did I'll post some updates here during the event, that was very cool to have you guys respond... Gave me a huge lift0 -
Tried running in only shorts for the first time. SHOWING SOME LEGS.

I put money down for my first 1/2 Marathon today. Not until December, but now I'm committed!
Looking forward to seeing how your 100 goes, Beano. Definitely keep us posted if we can follow along some.

I ran my first half last fall, my 2nd this spring. Now I'm signed up for a 5k this weekend, a 30K in September, my first marathon in November, and my 2nd marathon in April. This is becoming addicting.0
