Yeah I wouldn’t rely on securing the Double Tree there.

We were able to get the Dana Point Marina Inn also for the Friday, Saturday & Sunday night. We're travelling over from Northern Ireland for the festival.

Not going the Friday night, but hopefully we can sit on our balcony on the Friday night with a bottle of wine or 3 and listen to it.

Dang, no way I could.  I've been in LA for years, and sit in the bleachers for Ohana and every year when the sun drops and the wind from the ocean picks up I reach for a hoodie, and I grew up in the Rust Belt!

i have a ton of hilton points.  looks like a doubletree is close.  anyone stayed there?
I stayed there 3 times, i'll be booking again as soon as rates open.  last year they made you book wednesday-monday to get in for the weekend. prior years they didnt require a 5 night stay. i imagine next year will be the same.  its gotten pricier every year, but the location is perfect.

Never been to Ohana before, but I'm considering taking the family next year. Can you access the beach from the festival grounds, or is it blocked off? Some beach time or extra space to run around would make it way easier to take my kids...

No beach access from festival in past years.  Also no in/out privileges.

I booked the Hampton in San Clemente. Anyone stayed there? Wondering how long it takes to get to the festival from there and if it’s walkable to the beach.

They did it last year too, i was able to call a few weeks before and remove the 5th day. Not sure if it’ll work again but I’m fine doing an extra day if not. Not a bad place to spend 5 days

No beach access. Well, there's a bit of sand/beach available in the VIP section. I've seen a lot of beach-goers hunkered down on the sand just beyond festival fencing, hoping to hear music while also having a beach day.

Chilliness: I think it's strictly a personal thing. I'm female, 50+, little insulation, and I've just about frozen my a$$ off at Ohana in 2016 and 2019, while my husband just shook his head and laughed. But you can go to the beach here in the spring and see tourists in shorts and t-shirts while the locals are wearing down vests. If you're not familiar with SoCal, the sun is hot, the ocean breeze is cool, and it's more damp than you might expect (she types, peering out into another morning of pea-soup fog).

Hotel: We stayed at the Marriott/ Residence Inn that's a mile from the venue in 2019. It's convenient. It's also right on the train tracks; front desk said trains go through "once or twice a day," but "every twenty minutes, all night" would be more accurate. I also was awakened by the front desk for a noise complaint -- the RHCP were doing sound check or something, and the front desk brain trust decided that they must be playing in my room.

So, I wouldn't stay there again; luckily, next year we will be able to drive up each day.

I just booked from the 22nd to 27th at the DoubleTree. Had a crapload of points and it was only 35,000 a night. Best part? 5th night was free so it only cost 140,000 points. sweeeeet.

That's a great deal.  We live in L.A., so it doesn't make sense for us to have 5 nights down there.  It would be great to walk to the festie each day!

I booked the Homewood Suites in Alisa Viejo.....less then 10 mins from the venue.

the Laguna Cliffs Marriott just opened up booking for that weekend and redemption is 55,000 points per night. Sounds like a lot but if you paid for it without points you're looking at over $800 a night, so 110,000 points for a 2 night stay isn't bad. If I can't edit my 5 night stay at the Doubletree, I'll cancel it and book at the Marriott as I'm only planning on being there Sat to Mon.

Looks like the AAA prices (discount) are nearly half off at $447 a night.  I signed up for a $50 AAA membership, got my # right away and then used to book Laguna.  Pretty insane discount.

Just booked an AirBnb in Dana Point the 22nd-27th for $1620 total. My wife and I are going with 2 other couples and decided that even if the festival gets postponed again, we're going to go ahead and take the vacation anyway.

The chance that any concerts happen in Newscum's Republic of California in 2021...about 25% at best.
19 Pearl Jam shows and still searching for Deep!

I really don't think Newsom's the problem -- the virus is the problem. The New York Philharmonic just cancelled the rest of its 2020-21 season; they had hoped to resume performances in January, but now everything is cancelled through June. I know this year has lasted a lifetime, but I'm pretty sure PJ cancelled their spring tour *before* the stay at home order was issued in California.

I think there's a solid chance that Ohana will happen as scheduled in 2021, but I also think there's a reason why the rescheduled spring tour dates haven't been announced. It's going to be mid-2021 at best before things start to return to normal (the Encinitas half-marathon, rescheduled to late March 2021, was cancelled because the city isn't issuing permits for large gatherings). I am trying to be optimistic and hope for a very busy fall 2021.

But, whether we like it or not, many officials and experts have said, explicitly, that concerts will be the last things to return.

Agreed. Cubs season ticket holder and we were told most likely very limited capacity to start next season. Would love to see some progress but not hopeful about any spring tour dates.

Vaccine efficacy results are expected next month.  If something is effective I like the odds of it being deployed by next summer and concerts coming back.  If the vaccines now in late stage trials end up not being effective, we might not even have shows in 2022.
