Not in NYC, but we don't really have rock radio here so that's not surprising.

SBWM is doing well in rock radio. Dance did good on alt radio for a month then dropped out. It did better on Triple A radio. Retrograde is starting to do well on Triple A. Surprised Quick Escape didn't do well

Where I live at in Southern Illinois, you get to choose from country, new country, classic rock from the 70's & 80's or religious stations. We do have a college radio station that you can pick up at times, but it is mostly contemporary "alternative".

DOTC got a sold week or two, and SBWM got another few weeks, but that's about it.

Q104.3 is great if you want to hear Hotel California 9 times a day and Alt 92.3 is wonderful if you're a fan of like 3 Chili Peppers songs.

Rock radio in NYC is a joke.  Neither rock station will play new music from any established act.  They won't play anything from Pearl Jam, Bruce Springsteen, the Chili Peppers, U2, the Foo Fighters and a slew of others that was released within the last 10-15 years.  If you're lucky, you can hear the "alternative" station play Better Man mixed in with Iris, Hey Ya and Two Princes.

Yea I thought Alt 92.3 would be playing the hell out of Dance. Considering what they usually play. But it's mostly Nirvana, RHCP, Green Day, or Weezer for 90s bands. Their playlist usually has songs that sound the same

How thin is a terrestrial radio channel's playlist in 2020?  I imagine it can't be more than 200 songs.

The podcast, satellite radio, streaming, etc will kill radio in the next ten years, for better or worse.

Pearl Jam also don't have a major label to help push the song to radio.

A few weeks ago, I heard a DJ on KLOS (in Los Angeles) mention they had a new album out, right before launching into Jeremy! More recently I've heard SBWM a few times on the same station.

If it still will take satellite radio another ten years to kill terrestrial radio, I will say that it has failed.

Not really.  We have two local rock station.  One is more the classic rock kind of station, which I generally like, but it means they don't go very deep in PJ's catalog.  Usually something from ten or vs.   Yellow Ledbetter randomly here and there.    Sometimes they'll play a new song, but it quickly gets dropped from rotation.

The other rock station plays older stuff, but they add in a lot of modern rock which I don't like much.  I find most post 2000 (there's a few exceptions) sounds very similar.   Too much hiding behind protools and/or the mix.  No big vocalists, just generic vocals hiding behind the music :(

I watched that documentary on 107.7 The End a while back, which we were lucky enough to pick up quite often here on Vancouver Island.   There was a section where they talked about how radio stations got gobbled up by the corporate machine.  It meant they went from playing what they wanted to play to playing what people wanted to hear.  Meaning most of 'em are mostly greatest hits stations now :(
