  • This was the Ohana version of the song... the Gigaton version added some verses. I felt like the original version was like a letter to Cornell and the Gigaton version spun it into an environmental/ political angle. Either way.... great song!

That was really nice. Seems like he tweaked the lyrics toward the end, “fighting the invisible.”

He sounded great, organ too. Great song choice.
Didn’t he skip a whole verse?
Yes -- the part about our fucked government
That’s the verse that needed to stay. Wussy!!!

He did, but from what he sang I feel like he changed the lyrics on a line. I may be wrong. Need to rewatch.
Yeah, I remember a line I wasn’t too sure about. Don’t have the lyric down yet and at the very least the delivery was changed fairly significantly. Guess Incoils watch again.

Anybody else think the vocal sounded canned?

Wow, that was brilliant.  Personally, haven't been into most of these at home performances.  EV doing it right as usual, mood, song choice, instrument, voice, even that room was perfect, camera work too.  I'd take a whole show of that.

Loved it as much as his performance of Long Road after 9/11.

Loved the performance.  Great choice of tune... very fitting.

Also... has Ed officially embraced the baseball hat stage of his career?

Ed has been wearing baseball hats since Pearl Jam has been a band.

Enjoyable, but something with the other Pearl Jam band members might have sent a more upbeat message. The Stones pulled it off...

Yeah.  Lyrics may be positive at the end but the music is pure depressive. Great job but need more upbeat for this show.

Just checked it out.  I like that version much better than the album track. Very succinct.  I don’t know if I should start another thread, but can we take a minute to discuss Charlie Watts clowning around with air drums during You Can’t Always Get What You want? I mean talk about stealing the show.

River Cross is now the most popular single off Gigaton (per iTunes).  Amazing what a little promotion will do.

I thought Charlie Watts was playing air drums as well. However, a few articles suggested that he was actually a program called Aerodrums - which was why he was wearing the headphones. I guess you can play the drums with these high tech drumsticks to a computer program. Anyway, I found the website. It could be what he was doing.

I agree. It felt like a funeral dirge to me, with the organ and the dark room.
