The Yield Taco, irrelevant PJ story thread, but hey it is still worth reading and posting your own.

We love our stories, so lets share some here related to PJ, whatever that means.

THE YIELD TACO
our favorite merch hoarder Tempo and a Groove did a trade a long time back with me, vinyl OP of Yield for whatever poster I cannot ever recall now.  Wayyyy before the reissues, so Yield vinyl was still a hot target fetching high sums of $$.  I mailed it to Chris in a LP mailer, insured it, and the flipping postal worker literally bent the box in half to fit it in the mailbox!  USPS denied all claims as they always due (don't waste your money on insurance with those thieves).  Eventually after sharing the horror story in some thread a amazing board member gave him a replacement, but now I cannot think of anything but a damn Yield taco whenever I see Chris's username and profile pic.  Chris you remember at all what the poster was?  It wasn't PJ20 billboard was it (before they were fetching an arm and a leg)???  DO you still have that pic of it you sent me?

I have a great Yield Taco story.
Maui 98. First of two concerts at the Maui Cultural Arts Center. Waiting in line all day, got hungry and ran a mile to Maui Tacos. I'm in line, and look behind me and it is Mike with his guitar tech. Are kidding me? I said hi, discussed Yield, and as always Mike is humble and so very kind. I offered for him to go ahead of me, so he could get going. He refused. Hell of a guy.  Maui Tacos is the stuff. Wow I still crave it 22 years later. I bought one poster because I wanted to save the 25.00 :)
Also, the flight was from Seattle, so after 6 hours people start saying hi and stuff. Ten club staff was on the plane. I met Kat and Sea. Very shy did not want to say who they were, but I figured it out, and I asked. Very kind people. Nice encounter.

Only because I also have a slightly stupid Yield link.
Around 12 years ago I visited the states from the UK to meet an American girl I’d met online (a love of PJ being one of the shared interests). She took me to DC and we went to Arlington Cemetery and there I seen my first ever Yield roadsign. I took a picture ha ha as the only one I’d known of previously was on the cd cover.
Now married to her and living in Brooklyn!

That's is a beautiful taco story. 12 years ago! Wow, you need to go home and get your stuff at this point. I wonder what your place looks like after 12 years. :)

I have to get a life. But here is the original post. https://community.pearljam.com/discussion/241457/how-the-usps-handles-fragile-packages

I was shocked when I saw/found this. It is clear what happened. I am so happy people here did something about it.
Whoever did that lost much more than anyone knows about.

That is so sad to see...I love how the carriers destroy stuff all the time with no accountability and having charged you insurance costs

Got a cool story, all tomorrow’s parties circa 2002 in LA, met Mike Watt and Eddie Vedder @ Watt’s performance, This was Riot Act era and Vedder had a Mohawk (look it up only time he had Mohawk). Anyways, friend and I made it back stage and low and behold Vedder was there.

For me was big deal at the time as during the 90s I was very depressed and contemplated hurting myself, the song Alive helped me through those bad times (I’m still Alive), was able to let Vedder know this and thank him for the song. He was very shy during those days and it was a very brief conversation, we let him enjoy Watts performance and seemed he appreciated it as when we left we ran into him in the parking lot and he recognized us and waved good bye. Remember had some warm Heinekens that day (Vedder was known for Heinekens during that era and he had one with him) those were the best warm beers I ever had!

Not PJ-related, but another unfortunate LP taco story.

I bought a copy of what turned out to be a relatively hard-to-find LP on eBay for a song (Yellowcard's original Ocean Avenue, for $25); it was going to be a perfect surprise holiday gift for my brother.

Well, it arrived in a BUBBLE MAILER, and it was delivered broken in half.  The seller was really apologetic and refunded, thankfully, but I've never found another copy, let alone for that price.  Used it as an opportunity to direct them how to properly ship an LP; couldn't do much else.

I agree. This guy asked me to disrobe before I mailed some vinyl. Sick people.

Reminds me of a poster I got through ebay. The mail lady stuck the tube in my mailbox leaving half of it hanging out of the box in a downpour.

Poster was ruined. I got restitution from ebay but it was still a bummer.
