Eddie Trunk: It's a very eclectic record... There's a lot of different things on it... There's a lot of different sounds on it... And then you've got a track like Evil Winds which is one of my favourites on the record... Is that what you were going for Stone as a guitar player?... To show a lot of different sides of your playing? Are you a guitar nerd that loves getting into efffects and different tones?... Where were you going as a guitar player with this?...
Stone Gossard: My guitar playing is a lot like finger painting and playing in the sandbox... I don't know what I'm doing and I'm just kind of trying different things... If I stumble onto something that I get excited about, I've got a pretty good capacity to kind of remember it, and store it so I can bring it out for a rainy day... Evil Winds is a riff that I wrote probably, at least, twelve years ago... Maybe the oldest riff on the whole thing... And I kind of had a demo of it floating around... It just nothing ever happened with it... Then I played it for Mason... We worked through at a couple of different vocal approaches... And then, when Brittany Davis got a hold of it... She really is, kind of, coassing in that whole song with him, and playing the B3 on it... Really giving it that even heavier, kind of, Blues feel... I'm glad you liked that one Eddie... That's one of my favourite ones too... It's one of my favourite riffs on the record...
